Re: New/Rented Movies : Pixar actually made a bad movie

Has anyone seen Moneyball? Is it as good as I keep reading it is? Everything I see written about it makes it seem excellent, including some talk that it might be oscar worthy. From a baseball movie starring Brad Pitt and and Jonah Hill...really?

I expect it's about as much a sports movie as Jerry McGuire was, as in not really. My guess it's more like Social Network or other character biopics.

Given the book's thrust, this is likely. You could do the book justice by not having a single sports scene in the entire movie.

I will not be partaking in that film. I hate the A's anyway, and I REALLY hate Jonah Hill (not to mention I hated all the attention Billy Bean got anyway over his "philosophy") so no need to waste my time :)

I'll let you know. Lisa and I are hoping to see it tomorrow night. Not sure I'll be able to stay awake on about 3 hours sleep by that point saturday but I'm gonna try.

Being honest, what's the big deal with Moneyball? I read the book, ok book, but do people really think Billy Beane and Paul DePodesta are geniuses? Oakland hasn't won anything. No ALCS, no World Series. They're in arguably the weakest division in baseball the last twenty years. Jeesh.

They're probably one of the best teams in a wins per $ spent sorta way.

Se7en is such a great movie.

And yeah, I woulda shot him. Not killed him, necessarily, but I would have shot him multiple times.

I'm probably the same. I would've proved John Doe right by being as cruel and ruthless to him as I could. I'm thinking one shot to the neck to paralyze, maybe a few more just to cause pain.

Really liked "Warrior" & "The Help"
Although Kurt Angle as a big scary Russian?
Good thing he didn't talk.

Re: New/Rented Movies : Pixar actually made a bad movie

So having spent the past three years living in one of the most remote places in the country and paying almost no attention to movies, I'm a bit behind...

I just watched Apocalypto. All I had heard about it was that it was a Mel Gibson thing and something about the Maya. Holy crap, that movie sucks so bad I can't even describe it! If I hadn't been watching it with some who enjoyed MST3K-ing it as much as I did, I would have turned it off. It wasn't as bad as Eyes Wide Shut, but Christ on a Cracker!!!!!

Ok, I think that's out of my system.

I watched Megamind last night out of boredom. It was fairly entertaining actually.

I didn't know you were in the UP.

Curse you for reminding me of that movie, which reminded me of "Vanilla Sky."

Now go watch "Open Your Eyes" to scrub every vestige of Tom Cruise from your brain.

Re: New/Rented Movies : Pixar actually made a bad movie

Watched the tail end of "Born on the Fourth of July" the other night, and I'm wondering where it ranks among Oliver Stone's other films.

The UP is Manhattan compared to where I was. :)

I was going to respond to this, but since I can't think of an Oliver Stone movie I liked, I won't. :)
