New/Rented Movies : Pixar actually made a bad movie

Re: New/Rented Movies : Pixar actually made a bad movie

I watched Spike Lee's Miracle at St. Anna. I enjoyed the story, but it could have been a much better movie. The ending was.... odd.

Just discovered Netflix is blocked at work.

Contagion was tepid. Matt Damon's character was completely superfluous and could have been cut after the opening 10 minutes. Nothing either memorable or bad about the movie, just blah. A huge budget should get you more than slightly better than a Saturday SyFy channel disaster flick.

C.

If you consider a grade of "C" being only slightly better than a SyFy movie, that pretty much sums up the reason you don't have much credibility when it comes to your movie opinions. ;)

Movies are graded according to their scope and purpose (so for example there could be an "A" SyFy movie -- though to be fair I haven't seen one. Maybe "Piñata."). Otherwise everything since 1955 would be an "F."

Edit: staggarlingly, Piñata is NOT an original SyFy movie. Ice Spiders is, however!

Wait, hold on. They're remaking Highlander?

Why?

Don't they do that about every 5 years?

The only way this works is if Connery's role is played by... Connery.

It works better as originally written:

"What's the difference between you and a mallard with a cold? One's a sick duck and I can't remember how it ends, but your mother's a whore."

Watched "All In" tonight. Took a chance, since it has Dominique Swain, and more importantly Michael Madsen AND Louis Gossett Jr. Yeah, that's the first clue.

Horrible story, acting, ending. I mean, I guess I was interested enough to see how the story (predictably) ended, as in how they'd spin it, but that's it. Because of that, it wasn't 90 minutes I wanted back, but it was close. It just reeked of a USA Up All Night Movie, without the good parts. ;)

Even the poker scenes were so horrible, a total numbnuts could read the hands/predict the outcome/guess what the player will do. I mean, at least try to make it look realistic.

Ah, Natural Born Killers is on. Thank goodness for an awesome movie.

I likened it to "The Wall" for my generation: totally *ed up movie, with a message, done smartly.

Edit: although, I still wonder what Tarantino would have done differently with the script. I mean, Stone and Tarantino are both nuts, it's just a different kind of crazy between them.

I thought that was 13 monkeys?

Haven't seen that yet.

NBK is a top 10 (at least) movie for me. The satire/social commentary message is beyond awesome. I mean, it really nailed it. And the movie was pretty much pre-internet, which adds to the fervor.

"Drive" is a great movie.

I imagine a lot of people will like it. It's the kind of movie Tarantino would make except he would have had a lot more dialogue and would've gone over the top with everything. Drive was subtle and that made it unique and pretty awesome.

I loved it. But I still love Tarantino too.

Yeah, it's the kind of movie Tarantino would make if everything about him was exactly opposite. ;)
