Re: New/Rented Movies: Insert Random Retread Of A Plot

Red, the final film in the Three Colors trilogy. It was an incredibly rewarding finish. This one is about brotherhood, about people finding someone new when they weren't even looking. For all the angst and heartache that came before, there is always a chance - for even the most forlorn. Yet it didn't feel cheap, quite the opposite. Smart, thought provoking, wonderful dialogue and brilliantly filmed.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1245526/ :confused::confused::confused:

That's not what I got out of it when my kid had it on one of the cable stations this weekend.

My wife and I snuck into it after seeing/paying for Tropic Thunder. We were actually looking more forward to P.E., but were FAR more entertained by Tropic Thunder. An additional viewing of T.T. wasn't as rewarding, but at the time, it gave me some pretty good laughs.

I agree that P.E. the weakest put out by that group. And I love that group going back to Freaks and Geeks.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall was also out that year and was much better imo.

To Brent's point, I get stoner comedies just fine coz for 11 years... never mind. ;)

Gurt that explains quite a lot. :D
Stoner comedies can be good when done right. I think Dude Where's my Car was one of the greatest examples out there. Excellent movie. Pineapple Express just didn't do it for me.

Has Jay Baruchel been with this group any other time than Undeclared? Not sure how he fits in other than with Seth Rogan from that show.

by my count, this is his third movie with Seth Rogan that I know about, and that includes the 2007 short "Jay and Seth Versus the Apocalypse".

Re: New/Rented Movies: Insert Random Retread Of A Plot

Jay Baruchel and Seth Rogan were both in Knocked Up, I'm not sure if that was included in the 3 movies that were mentioned earlier.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Insert Random Retread Of A Plot

I believe Baruchel and Rogan have writing credits together beyond acting appearances? At least that's the impression I got from the recent R.S. cover article.

According to IMDB, Baruchel only has two writing credits. Goon (with Evan Goldberg, Rogen's writing partner), and Edgar and Jane. These are the only ones I could find:

Undeclared
Knocked Up
Jay and Seth Versus the Apocalypse
Tropic Thunder
This is the End

IMDB does say they are good friends though.

The Hit List

Well, awesome premise. After a guy's life basically turns to crap one day, he heads to the bar, gets hammered, and chats up with a stranger. Then, the people who caused this guy's bad day start dying. Oops. However, as the movie progresses....cliche after cliche after cliche. Very disappointed in that, BUT I will say (until the ending) Cuba Gooding Jr absolutely was awesome in it. If this movie had gotten better treatment/bigger budget...this would have been a keeper. That promising.

They're filming parts of Transformers 4 a little to the South of me. Apparently they got part of M-52 near the Ohio Border closed off so that they can use a stretch with wheat fields on both side of it for a scene. Been seeing quite a few snap shots people got of Optimus Prime as they towed him to the set today. However, it looks like they switched his Semi form over to being a Western Star Semi rather than the more stately Peterbilt that's been Optimus for the first 3 movies. Not really sure I like the new look.

Glad to see Transformers appears to be going down the Fast & Furious route

Re: New/Rented Movies: Insert Random Retread Of A Plot

If that were true, the sequels would be getting better and better and better instead of worse and worse and worse.
Fast And Furious threw out some stinkers... Maybe they're due to swing back to being good again.

Then again, Michael Bay is in charge of it. Remember kids, he was going to have the TMNT's be Aliens.

I watched Pitch Perfect with the Wife on HBO. I feel dirty that I actually liked it. I'm just gonna blame it on Brittany Snow...

Yeah, I saw it the other day while bored (happens a lot lately) and found myself laughing way more than I expected.
