Re: New/Rented Movies: Insert Random Retread Of A Plot
Walk The Line was great, and I appreciated it more when I learned they sang all the songs themselves. Yup.
White Zombie:
It could have been so much better. It had the story, the tools, and the main actor. Unfortunately, it was a B-movie that tried to take itself seriously. I still enjoyed it, just for the influence it brought forth in future movies, though.
Miller's Crossing:
Pbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbt. Pure crap. Shut it off after 45 minutes or so. Couldn't take it anymore.
Day Of The Falcon:
Much like Renee Z in "Appaloosa" (awesome movie), Antonio Banderas' best efforts could not ruin this movie (and I usually like him). About two Arab tribes deciding an area called "The Yellow Belt" was a no-man's land that cannot be claimed. Then some Americans find oil there 15 years later. Let the games begin. Complex story about common-man politics, loyalties, war, love, everything. LOVED the movie. I highly recommend it.
I finally saw Walk the Line last night. Wow, I liked it much better than I anticipated.
And I went to see Man of Steel today. It's a good origin-story movie. The critics thought to little of it, on average, and the die-hards think to much of it. If you're the sort to avoid theaters, do yourself a favor if you decide to watch it, and make sure to do so in hi-def.
