New/Rented Movies: Insert Random Retread Of A Plot

Goddammit. Gonna have to watch this. I'll have to drink some bourbon and smoke a cigar or something just for some SEMBLANCE of still being a man watching a musical, but jeez.

I have Movie 43 on tap for tomorrow. I have no hopes. I am watching it out of pure curiosity.
It definitely seems like a chick flick on the surface but it does have redeeming qualities. Plus it has a shower scene!

Re: New/Rented Movies: Insert Random Retread Of A Plot

Made it 20 minutes into Movie 43 before shutting it off. And that was 10 minutes too long. That bad.

Pitch Perfect

LOVED it!

Didn't hurt that the redhead was gorgeous, but just had a blast watching this.

Funny, great singing, REALLY funny and some easy on the eyes "coeds."

Yeah, I loved it. Very good film.

The musicals I've watched and liked, given the vast amount of movies I've watched: Wizard Of Oz, Grease, South Park: Bigger, Longer, Uncut. That's about it. Oh, West Side Story, too.
You forgot Rock of Ages. :D

Movie 43 was SO BAD. I saw it for free and I still felt ripped off.

Pacific Rim was awesome. Loved every minute of it. Finally a director and whoever else was involved with the film understood the genre they were filming and did it justice.

5 stars.

Just got back from watching it. While I wont go 5 stars I agree with the rest of your statement. Good popcorn flick with good special effects and action. Normally I'm not a fan of movies like that (can't stand the Transformers movies and such) but I have enjoyed Del Toro's work. And when I saw Ron Pearlman in it, it gave it that extra touch. Haha

Re: New/Rented Movies: Insert Random Retread Of A Plot

To each his/her own on Pacific Rim, I guess. Like I said, first movie I ever walked out of.

You saw the whole thing? You are a stronger man than I. Given my equation of "star power + initial expectation (before reviews are in, etc) = rating overall," this movie finally topples "Nothing But Trouble" as the worst movie ever.

Edit: Mars Attacks! therefore, drops to 3rd place.

Identity Thief - Not quite as enjoyable as Due Date (similar stories) but enjoyable. There are a number of LOL moments that make it worthwhile and the story has some heart.

2-Headed Shark Attack....

This is worse (by that, I mean worse) than Sharknado. For starters, it has Carmen Electra, Brooke Hogan, AND Charlie O'Connell (Jerry's brother...you know, the fat kid from Stand By Me).

Sharknado is getting a theater release next month. I don't know how limited or widespread, but it's coming to theaters in August. I saw it on Fox of CNN the other day.

ETA: I found the link. http://marquee.blogs.cnn.com/2013/07/26/sharknado-set-to-storm-theaters-in-august/?iref=allsearch

Iron Sky - absolutely awesomely horrendous. Nazis moved to the dark side of the moon in 1945. A Sarah Palin knockoff is president of the us. Lots of awesomely bad lines, costumes, and overacting.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Insert Random Retread Of A Plot

Saw Pacific Rim and loved it. Good popcorn flick with plenty of action, a lot of nods to the Godfather of Monster Movies, Godzilla. Quite a few random funny moments and gags like the Newton's Cradle one. And at the end, a good dash of ID4 in there at the end as well.

Mafioso

Italian movie from 1962. Faithful autoworker in Northern Italy is asked a favor from his Sicilian hometown Don. Very pro-Sicily, thankfully I've read up on that subject, and helped me understand the movie a bit more. I really liked the movie. Gave a good insight as to how it worked in those days. Definitely recommend.
