Oz the Great and Powerful
The lukewarm/negative reviews scared us off of seeing this in the theater.
This movie was a disaster. Pretty much everyone was miscast - Michelle Williams being the exception. Franco & Kunis were just terrible and I like both of them otherwise.
The CGI looked like a video game. I've begun to take good/great CGI for granted so when it's bad, it's very obviously bad. It couldn't have looked much worse.
The "funny" parts were flat out painful.
I could go on and on, but why waste the time? I already wasted 2.5 hours.
Agree on the CGI. However, I went into it expecting to hate it (love the "original"). And I liked this. I thought it did a good job with the backstory of Oz.
I also love the original and the wife and I saw the touring production of Wicked which was stunningly great - both in story and in execution. Go see it if you get the chance (and it's your bag). Well worth the effort.
I enjoyed the backstory as presented in this movie, I just think they failed in the execution of that story... on multiple levels
Kunis kept sounding like she was yelling at Kelso. I didn't have those flashbacks during Black Swan or Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
Franco's ****-eating grin needs to be used to effect and not all of the time. Didn't fit the tone at times during the movie.
This was just one of those instances where I was left thinking that it's too bad coz there was a (potentially) good movie in there. Wife felt the same way.

If you saw it in Madison or Milwaukee, we have a relative in that cast (minor part) and saw it in Milwaukee. Great show with some amazing voices in the cast.
Just watched THE CRASH REEL...
This is a documentary that deals with snowboarder Kevin Pierce and his recovery from a traumatic brain injury that he suffered just before he was supposed to compete in the 2010 Vancouver Olympics... It also touches on the death of skier Sarah Burke along with how injuries like this effect extreme sports athletes and their families...
This was a movie that really hit close to home... It's a very intimate look into several athletes that I look up to... I don't know if this would carry over if you don't have an interest in the X-games athletes featured or skiing/snowboarding, but I think it should at least be on your radar... It really highlights what goes through an extreme sport athlete's head...
Pitch Perfect
LOVED it!
Didn't hurt that the redhead was gorgeous, but just had a blast watching this.
Funny, great singing, REALLY funny and some easy on the eyes "coeds."
Goddammit. Gonna have to watch this. I'll have to drink some bourbon and smoke a cigar or something just for some SEMBLANCE of still being a man watching a musical, but jeez.
You shouldn't need any meds for this. It's not a good bad movie. It's a very good/great movie (for what it is) that's a lot of fun and frickin' hilarious.
The music's great too.
Wife and 15 year old boy loved it too.
Well, I can't say if you'll like it, but I sure enjoyed the heck out of it and the others who mentioned in on here did too.
I can't remember seeing too many musicals onscreen. Grease and the Wizard of Oz come to mind as the only ones. Not typically my thing although I really enjoy them onstage.
