Either amazingly good or amazingly bad. There will be no middle ground.

Karate Kid 3 is a classic.... :)

You think this is the end of it, old man? I'm gonna open Cobra Kai dojos all over this Valley. Hell, I might even teach for free! From now on, all that anyone will know about is Cobra Kai karate. John Kreese's karate. You won't even be a memory!

Terry Silver: Say it...Kobra Kai...
John Kreese: NEVER DIE!

:p

Can't or aren't trying hard enough? (a hard joke, really?)

"Red Sands." A small detachment of US troops in Afghanistan release a Djinn; carnage results. Much better than it has any right to be -- actors, director and cinematographer should all get indie awards.

Re: New/Rented movies: Here comes the movie to change all movies

Finally saw The Crazies. I liked it a lot, somewhat predictable, but in an enjoyable way. Not as gory as it looked from the trailers, most of the violence happens off screen. Which makes the horrific moments all the more tense.

I was happy that the military was fairly competent really. Considering Romero worked on it in some way, I thought they were going to be a bunch of slack jawed yokels barely able to operate their weapons, let alone quarantine a town.

On an unrelated note. I am ****ing sick of seeing commercials for FX's Justified show. Literally that screenvision POS played 5 commercials for it before the movie started.

"The Mask of Fu Manchu" (1932) -- Boris Karloff plays an undefined steppe Asian trying to find Fu's bones and launch a genocide against whites. His tortures scenes were supposedly legendary at Saturday cinema serials. Karloff definitely chomps up scenery like a veteran Tod Slaughter. I think this one's keen -- never saw the others.

I'm watching the "Invention of Lying" WOw...its pretty **** awesome. If you haven't seen it I highly recommend.

Gotta Love the Pizza Hut boxes.

Re: New/Rented movies: Here comes the movie to change all movies

The Crazies - a decent thriller with plenty of "get 'em" scenes, deaths, and narrow escapes. Too bad about the needlessly explosive, implausible ending, but I suppose it's par for the course.

Re: New/Rented movies: Here comes the movie to change all movies

Watched Body of Lies with Crowe and Leo...it was ok. Pretty unremarkable really but I didnt hate it.

Also watched the documentary Paradise Lost 2 which is the sequel to a documentary HBO did on the West Memphis 3. If you don't know the story:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Memphis_3

The second one is not as good as the first one but both are interesting. What funny is now even the most vocal of the parents believes the kids are innocent, the evidence is weak as hell and they still can't get a new trial. The "leader" has been on Death Row since the 1990s

Re: New/Rented movies: Here comes the movie to change all movies

Saw a couple of classics:

"Black Belt Jones." Awesome blaxploitation movie.

"Black Dynamite" A spoof about the blaxploitation genre. Freaking hilarious.

Re: New/Rented movies: Here comes the movie to change all movies

I just watched the Family Guy Empire Strikes Back special...yes it is stupid but oh my lord it is hilarious! :D

LoisLeia: I love you!
PeterHan: **** off!

And the end where they mock Robot Chicken again is even better than the first one...and it promises "To be concluded!"

:)

I didn't think it was as good as the first one. Was predictable and not overly funny. You just can't outdo Herbert the Pervert and Chris doing the dirty dancing song. That will make me wet meself every time.

Re: New/Rented movies: Here comes the movie to change all movies

Saw Changling over the weekend. Maybe having two kids younger than 7 brought it closer to home, but I seem to recall some less than kind coments about it yet I enjoyed it.
