Re: new/rented movies: DEVASTATOR!!!!!

The entirety of Highlander is nothing but constant reboots. There basically is no real continuity from movie to movie to show to show to TV movie to TV movie.

I would bet we'd get a new version of the song.

Yeah I know...it is fun though when you try and figure out a way for it to make sense :D

So...Conner wins and is the "The One"...no wait they are aliens and so there is a whole planet of them (including Michael Ironside who rules!) plus if you just yell loud enough your friend Sean Connery can come back and help you become "The One"...then they aren't aliens and Conner is "The One" except for the one who has been trapped in a mountain for 300 years played by Mario Van Peeples who was last seen being eaten by a shark in Jaws: The Revenge who loses to Conner making Conner "The One" again...then Duncan (his kinsman) shows up and fights a bunch of immortals meaning Conner is ONCE AGAIN not "The One" in fact there seem to be hundreds...then Conner goes into hiding from an old foe and Duncan kills him and the foe...THEN in the future Duncan defeats some evil Source and wins the prize even though he isnt "The One".

Come on...that makes all sorts of sense! :D (we wont even get into the cartoon ;) )

saw I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell. one screen in boston. 7p was pretty crowded.. leaving the long hallway at harvard sq afterward was lined with peeps waiting for the 930p (screen was the third floor up on the right, for those of you familiar. that's a long line of peeps :p )

movie was eh... not like they could do justice to the stories in the book. tried, but added a bit too much to make it a movie.

had its' moments though.

"This Film Is Not Rated."

Must. See.

Loved it. It doesn't * around, it cuts to the chase.

If you've wondered about any rating in your life, you should see this.

Re: new/rented movies: DEVASTATOR!!!!!

The Wrestler: very very good. Dam near a documentary, in my eyes (yes, I know they based much of the storylines on real wrestlers, but that stuff doesn't always carry over well in a fiction movie). There were some tough scenes to watch, because of that.

Freaks: not as odd as I expected, but still very creepy towards the end. I can only imagine what it would have been like to see that in a theater back in the day when it came out, with the attitudes towards "freaks" like in the movie. How I wish that the lost footage were never lost. I think it really would have added to the movie, but it was still good, and I'd recommend it for those who want something a little different.

Saw "The Informant." Excellent. "Well, there may be some changes in the corporate culture.." :D

Re: new/rented movies: DEVASTATOR!!!!!

Watched Marathon Man last night with Dustin Hoffman and Roy Scheider. I thought it was incredible, although I had a few thoughts:

-Liked the ending in the aquaduct when Szell was forced to eat the diamond, but I thought it would have been cool to have him cornered and exposed in the market, to the point where all the finger pointing and shouting would have caused a heart attack. Or some time of similar public embarassment.
-I thought it was too obvious too early that the Elsa was an insider.
-Was it inentional to make it obvious Devane was an insider when 'saving' Babe from the torture spot?

Hrmm, i'm very weary of Michael Bay movies.

He is remaking A Nightmare on Elm Street (4.30.2010).

The preview looks decent, but still its Michael Bay. :(

One of my favorite horror franchises, despite it going way down hill after #3.

Re: new/rented movies: DEVASTATOR!!!!!

Why...really? I mean dont get me wrong I like a lot of the people involved minus Michael Bay but did Nightmare on Elm Street really need to be remade? The original is pretty much as good as it gets no need to reinterpret it.

Of course in the preview half the scenes look completely ripped off from the original so I guess it really isnt a reinterpretation ;)

Bay's not directing, it has the possibility of not being terrible.

He's involved, that's enough.

The Friday the 13th remake was terrible. Halloween 2 remake by all accounts was awful, although the first one I heard was pretty good.

Some things shouldn't be touched.

But Bay wasn't involved in Rob Zombie's Halloween movies. You probably know that, but the way the paragraph is put together makes it sound like he was.

Also, Halloween 2 is not a remake. It's a sequel to a remake. There's a difference. :)

Yeah, I know that. I fixed it. I was making two points. 1. Michael Bay being involved means garbage in/garbage out. 2. Remaking classic horror films is a bad idea.

Whoever thought remaking Psycho was a good idea should just give up the film career altogether by the way. I mean come on.
