Re: New/Rented Movies: Bring Back Laserdiscs!

Saw A-Team last night. It exceeded my considerable expectations for its terribleness. This is what happens when you let your teenagers recommend movies.

It's probably the most overtly racist movie made since the 40's, though, so that's something.

We Own The Night:

Well, I can't say it's a bad movie. It's just absolutely nothing, I mean NOTHING, made it want me to say to someone "You should see this movie" or "it's worth watching." Completely bland, predictable, etc. Entertaining enough to watch I suppose, if there's nothing better to do, but otherwise....

Totally forgot about this clip:

Watched Quantum of Solace and Inglorious Basterds today. I thought both were entertaining, but I see no reason to want to see them again.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Bring Back Laserdiscs!

I watched Miami Vice today. Thoroughly entertaining. I'd watch it again.

Colin Farrell was soooooo diiirrty hawt in that movie.

I watched The Kids Are Alright last night. Glad it was a screener and I didn't have to pay. It was ok, nothing special. I didn't even think Annette Benning nor Julianne Moore were anything worth wasting an Oscar nom on, but it appears that Annette Benning is an odds on favorite to win this year.

Haha, with the handlebar moustache?

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: Very entertaining movie. It did seem it had ADD at a few points, the way it jumped around between dream and "reality", but it was still a lot of fun to watch. I really liked the video game/anime style that it had. I loved a lot of the quick cut jokes (like all the times there's a quick cut to Michael Cera with a hat on... a very well done running joke). I liked a lot of the sort of awkward commentary made between characters. But I can't help but be a little put off by most of the characters in general, for reasons that are boring and tedious to really explain.

Also got Knight and Day and MacGruber from Redbox today. And yet here I am, on the computer and not watching them.

Having not seen the movie, and only taking your assessment of it, she may be getting the nod because the lesbian moms may be the Hollywood Oscar Cause of the Year for 2011. Every year there's a movie or actor/actress that gets an nomination based upon the topic or character rather than the quality of the movie or performance.

But wasn't the TV show overtly racist...granted I hardly remember it...just remember being 5 and wanting a Mr. T mohawk.

I saw Social Network at the dollar theatre tonight. That Eisenberg was pretty good in it. Didn't expect it to have quite that much of a documentary feel to it. I also didn't realize that the napster guy had that much to do with the development of facebook.

Earlier in the day I went to the normal theatre to see Harry Potter again, but it was sold out...so I bout a ticket to the new Narnia movie. But that didn't start for over an hour...so I snuck in and watched the last hour + of gullivers travels....that was a long hour. Narnia was pretty decent...nice teaser trailer for the new transformers.

Saw Pelham 123 tonight. It was okay...the end sucked, but the first 2/3 was fantastic. Travolta and Washington were solid.

Really? That is one of the two movies in my life I have ever walked out of. It was horrible...I mean there was nothing good about that movie and it was a flat out insult to the TV show.

JMHO.

His involvement is sort of a bone of contention...many of the things that were attributed to him have also been attributed to Zuckerburg in other places. I think his involvement was overplayed but that is just me.

Black Swan was pretty awesome and intense. And that's even ignoring Mila Kunis muffdiving Natalie Portman and all. I'd actually say it was one of the scarier movies I've seen in awhile.
