Johnny Dangerously...now that movie is awesomely bad :D

Re: New/Rented Movies: Bring Back Laserdiscs!

Saw Pelham 123 tonight. It was okay...the end sucked, but the first 2/3 was fantastic. Travolta and Washington were solid.

If you haven't seen it, I can't recommend the original enough. So taut it's almost suffocating. Excellent performances by everyone (and a very nostalgic view of 70's NYC when it was a complete shithole).

Re: New/Rented Movies: Bring Back Laserdiscs!

Johnny Dangerously was one of my favorite movies when I was younger. It used to be on TV all the time.

Saw Igor (animated), it was meh. They could of done a lot more with it.

Watched Gangs of New York for about the 10th time. Still awesome.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Bring Back Laserdiscs!

Just saw a commercial for "The Roommate." From what I gathered, it's "Single White Female" except for the title. Yay.

I saw that commercial and thought the same thing. The difference being that they'll be younger women, which means perkier, assuming it was good casting. That is about the only thing the movie will have going for it.

I dunno if it would even be worth a "drunk with friends" viewing. It looks horrible.

I own one laserdisc and a player: The Wild Life starring Chris Penn, Rick Morainis, Eric Stultz, Ben Stein, Randy Quaid, Lea Thompson and many, many more great actors. Sorry for all the useless info but it's the second best movie ever.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Bring Back Laserdiscs!

I saw The Fighter...A+, 5 Stars, Two Thumbs Up...whatever rating you give me to use it will get the highest marks. Best movie I have seen in the last year without question. Christian Bale was so friggin awesome in that movie it was downright scary. I know it won't win the Oscar because the British Film will but I dont know of any way that film could be better.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Bring Back Laserdiscs!

Scored a free year-long pass to the local first-run movie theatre, for up to four people. :D Wife and I wanted to see Black Swan but it isn't in this theatre yet. Saw Little Fockers instead. Meh...can't expect much from the 3rd in a series like that.

"It's casual." :D - I remember that flick. Purely awesome, in a Fast Times sense. I read that copyright issues keep it from being released on DVD or streaming, so you probably have a collector's item.

Zoolander was awesome. That point is not debatable.

Rufus, Brint, and Meekus were like brothers to me. And when I say brother, I don't mean, like, an actual brother, but I mean it like the way black people use it. Which is more meaningful I think. If there is anything that this horrible tragedy can teach us, it's that a male model's life is a precious, precious commodity. Just because we have chiseled abs and stunning features, it doesn't mean that we too can't not die in a freak gasoline fight accident.

BTW the sequel comes out next year...

Re: New/Rented Movies: Bring Back Laserdiscs!

The first time I saw zoolander, I almost yelled at my buddy for wasting my time. I kept waiting for the punchline. The second time I watched it, I laughed a little. The third and fourth times? I was laughing my *** off. It's definitely an acquired taste.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Bring Back Laserdiscs!

Doubt was good. Meryl Streep was excellent in it. I actually thought that the story could have been better, but the acting really is what made the movie.

Zoolander was terrible.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Bring Back Laserdiscs!

Zoolander was the 2010 San Francisco Giants. On paper it looks horrible, but somehow everybody had a career year and it worked.

If you put that cast together in 10 movies, 9 of them would suck. Actually, we don't have to hypothesize; it's happened. But Zoolander is brilliant.
