New/Rented Movies: Bring Back Laserdiscs!

Re: New/Rented Movies: Bring Back Laserdiscs!

I watched Gangs of New York last night. This is a movie that I have wanted to see for years, but just finally got around to watching it. I thought it was good, not great. It really seemed like it could have been shortened a bit, as there was alot of extra stuff in there. The start was good, then there was a lull, and then the last half of the movie was very good. Now I want to do some research and find out how historically accurate it was (not the actual story but the stuff about the way New York was and the mob at the end).

Wiki is probably a good starting point.

Same here. It's amazing cinematography, though.

2. Zodiac. Good movie. One minor non-essential to the story flaw, I guess, but one that really gets me personally. A suspect claims to be left handed, but wears his watch on the left wrist. All the lefties I know wear their watches on their RIGHT WRIST

FWIW, I'm a lefty and I wear my watch on my left wrist.

Alright - looking for a recomendation. I've got a chance to go see one movie this weekend, and have to pick between the Fighter, the Kings Speach, or 127 Hours. I'm leaning the Fighter at the moment, but could be pursuaded another direction...

Also, anyone from Duluth? Know about the Zinema2 (they've got the Fighther and 127 Hours)? Online reviews are good (From Yelp - "Cheap tickets, great films, and perks include organic bakery snacks, beer, and other treats fairly priced and able to be enjoyed in the theatre!"). I'll be over there Sunday and was thinking it would be worth a stop.

I don't know about organic bakery treats, I won't eat organic stuff, thats too hippie for me. But beer on the other hand, sounds like a great perk.

I cannot recommend the Fighter enough...it was outstanding.

me too.

I would post something movie-related, but my last few Netflix choices have been meh. Charlie Bartlett, The Grocer's Son and The Good Life. Grocer's Son was probably my favorite of the 3. I did see Invictus and enjoyed it, and no, I don't care that it was predictable. I would watch pretty much anything with Morgan Freeman and/or Matt Damon.
