Why even bother asking? You know we're all just going to anyway. Can we just point and laugh?
Just got Machete from Netflix, and the beginning may be the best 5 - 10 minutes in motion picture history.![]()

me too.
I would post something movie-related, but my last few Netflix choices have been meh. Charlie Bartlett, The Grocer's Son and The Good Life. Grocer's Son was probably my favorite of the 3. I did see Invictus and enjoyed it, and no, I don't care that it was predictable. I would watch pretty much anything with Morgan Freeman and/or Matt Damon.
It seems like Netflix has been moving more of its catalog to View Instantly. I still don't understand why the Sortable List for a parent category does not necessarily include all members of its sub-categories, though. It's a pretty annoying bug.
Freddy Got Fingered is the greatest practical joke ever played on the movie industry. You watch that movie, and you can't help but think that maybe Tom Green knew his 15 minutes were almost up and figured "You know what? Screw it, I'm going out with the weirdest ****ing bang you've ever seen".On a completely unrelated note, I watched Freddy Got Fingered afterwords, and I like Tom Green in movies entirely too much.
The same technique is also one of things that makes the scene in the Godfather (where Michael kills Solozzo and McCluskey) so brilliant.Watched the first disc (of four) of Shogun. It is as awesome as I remember it. And totally forgot that Toshiro Mifune (a favorite of director Akira Kurosawa) was in it.
One thing I learned about that I didn't understand/realize when I watched it years ago (way too young to notice things like this): they didn't use subtitles when the Japanese spoke, because the mini-series was from Blackthorne's point of view. What he didn't understand, we didn't understand. That sort of thing. I really like that aspect of it.

I cannot recommend the Fighter enough...it was outstanding.
Those can be dangerous!Went with The Fighter, and I might have a new favorite for best picture...
And on the Zinema2 in Duluth? Two huge thumbs up. It's a couple blocks up from the entrance to Canal Park on Superior St., and those "organic" snacks are a bit overblown. They simply had some unique items in addition to the usual candy. Stuff like chocolate covered sunflower seeds. Add in maybe a half dozen bottled/canned bears and another half dozen on-tap, and what more could you ask for? Plus, the butter on the popcorn was real. I mean, **** - that was some fantastic buttered popcorn! I can guarantee that I'll check their listings next time I'm headding to Duluth...
