New Hamphsire at Maine, Friday 12/10, CBSCS

Re: New Hamphsire at Maine, Friday 12/10, CBSCS

That one was so prominent, I had to Google it.

But yes... a win in the innaugural year of a league not sanctioned by the NCAA. In related news, UMaine's club football team had another good year.
The AWCHA was created for preciously that reason, that the NCAA did not sponsor a national tournament for women's hockey - it was the de facto national title agreed on by all DI programs. It was not a "league" nor was it by any means the first year women's hockey had been played at the DI level, club sports are not comparable. The NCAA doesn't award a DI FBS football title either, it is still a de facto "national championship".

This game on its own should be enough to off-set anything in ladies hawkey.

That was probably one of the most fun games to watch in person.

The next game though....that was a different story.

Even if UNH wins the national title......we got the musket

Perhaps you can shine that musket on Friday while we watch our team on ESPN2 :)

You could have just pointed to the fact that our women's team couldn't even beat yours this year, but that'll do... ouch ;)

I like Maine's chances at home...that said UNH has been hot and on a roll...Difference in this game will be turnovers and which teams goalie makes the game stealing saves early.

I think this ones a draw. Think that Maines Alfond advantage is neutralized by having both Dimmen and O'Neil out. Should be a close one if the young'en Maine goalie is up to the task. With UHN hotter than a pistol right now, he should see plenty of rubber.

I'm already looking forward to the double-header in Durham in February. The Whit will be rocking and the students will be out in full force just as they have been all year. Some of the best student section crowds I've seen in years up in Durham..caught the BU game on NESN too and they were really giving the Terriers all they could handle!

Let's hope UNH's first line can continue their dominance this weekend up at Alfond. 65 points between Thompson, Sislo and DeSimone thus far this season! Possible Hobey candidates on that line?

I agree. That was where I was going with my score prediction.

I think NH gets an early one on Sully, but he settles down. Maine comes back to take a lead but blows it in the 3rd, like Providence. Both goaltenders look pretty good considering the opposing offenses theyre up against.

If I get at least 4 of these 6 right, I win a prize.. :p

NH goals from Sislo (owns Maine), Henrion and one from the blueline, but not Kessel. I'll go Hardowa to spite the guys from the milk carton :D

Maine goals from Nyquist (he's gotta turn something up), House and...you ready for this one? Because I triple my points if I get this one.... MANGENE nets his 1st non-EN career goal. Boy will you guys be sorry when I called that one

3-3 final

Disappointed that I won't be making the trek to Orono this year, but our Christmas Party is Saturday and we need the day to prep; would have been harder to choose if it weren't on TV.

UNH has impressed me this year, more by their work ethic than anything else. I think they'll go into Maine looking to make a statement after two ugly games last year, and will come away with a 5-3 win, scoring an empty netter. Maine fans, look for UNH D-Man Brett Kostalansky to continue his hot hand; after going scoreless his freshman year, he's scored something like 4 goals in his last 5 games.

The Moses / Borisenok line has been flying all over the ice; tomorrow would be a good day for them to find the back of the net. Our top line's playing great, but I expect teams to focus on them and slow them down, so another line will need to step up.

Enjoy the cold weather up North!

Sislo has two SHG against Maine at Orono in the last two years, I believe.
