New England Prep 2009-2010

Re: New England Prep 2009-2010

Tabor - Lawrence, tied 1-1, both goals scored in the final minute...Tabor's with 44 seconds left, and Lawrence with the goalie pulled with just 8 seconds left.

Two future BU Goalies, LA's Kerrin Sperry and TA's Braly Hiller kept it close for both schools.

Any predictions on the top eight based on the last few weeks? Still a lot of big games left to determine the post season rankings.

Does New England Prep have a website where they have the standings and individual stats posted?

1. Brewster Academy
2. Choate
3. Noble & Greenough
4. Westminster
5. Williston-Northampton
6. Lawrence
7. Tabor
8. Berkshire

Choate, Westy and Berkshire all seem to have tougher schedules for the last couple of weeks compared to the rest of the group. Assuming these schools beat themselves up a little, and the remaining schools win the games "they're supposed to win", then this is my prediction for the final 8.

Re: New England Prep 2009-2010

Dates will probably be consistent with prior years, and have typically run concurrent with Div. 1.

If so, I think they should run as follows:

Pairings on Feb. 28

Quarterfinals on Wednesday, March 3 (Higher seed gets home team barring 2+hour travel, in which case neutral site is chosen by coaches/officials)

Semifinals on Saturday, March 6 @ Dexter School
Finals on Sunday, March 7 @ Dexter School

Of course, this is if things haven't changed from how they've been for the past four years. Maybe someone can confirm this more positively?

Re: New England Prep 2009-2010

Back in Mid-December, Tabor Academy's Jess Bouchard, had the unique and rare opportunity to participate in the Trans-Canadian Olympic Torch Relay. Jess is a Junior and a key player for the Seawolves hockey team. She hails from St. Constant, Quebec in suburban Montreal.

I am sure tonight's opening ceremonies in Vancouver will be even more special to Jess and her family. Congratulations, and enjoy the moment!

(PS...I asked Hux to help me post a picture as well, but he must not have pushed himself away from the dinner table in the last 14 hours.)

Re: New England Prep 2009-2010

Couldn't help but notice: Choate 0 to 0 vs. Williston Northampton (at Choate). Two top-8 DI teams; two of the stingiest goalies around.

Re: New England Prep 2009-2010

Andover beat Nobles 3-2

Unbelievable game by Andover and possibly the biggest surprise this season

Re: New England Prep 2009-2010

Middlesex continues to play well after beating Milton... this time just short in a 2-1 loss to Lawrence.

Proctor wins 5-0 over Hebron...

Re: New England Prep 2009-2010

The good news for Nobles is that they were already lock on the field of 8, and most likely for home ice in the quarterfinals, so no danger there. Unless Choate suffers a similar fate, Nobles will settle for somewhere between #2 and #4 seed.

I've got the ol' spreadsheet up to speed, but too many possibilities still exist, since teams in the hunt have as many as 4 games remaining.

I'll try to publish something on Sunday once the weekend's games are complete. I believe most of the makeup games from a week ago are being squeezed in to this week too, so the # of variables will be greatly reduced soon.

Still, congrats to Big Blue! A big win to build on!
