NESCAC season 2014-2015

Re: NESCAC season 2014-2015

When I suggested Skidmore, I was thinking more on the line of compareable schools (#37 Liberal Arts according to USNR). However I just noticed there mens team is ECAC East.
Tufts baffles me as well. Not to mention there mens team plays in an oversized metal shed 25 traffic lights away from campus. UMASS (Boston) and Babson are proof what a rink on campus could do for your programs. What a great option Tufts would be for Boston area Prep School kids to play hockey and get a great education..

Babson...there's another school [with a nice rink no less and a men's program with a great history, including a National title in 1984..not to mention a location in a great hockey area] that should have a women's program.....Another complete and total head-scratcher.

Re: NESCAC season 2014-2015

As for Tufts - they're in a rent a rink scenario. Maybe there is not enough available ice to support another team at the rinks.

Re: NESCAC season 2014-2015

Four non-conference games today:
Hamilton@Oswego
UMB@Bowdoin
Wesleyan@Sacred Heart
Colby@Southern Maine
I like Bowdoin at home and Wesleyan on the road; not so sure either Colby or Hamilton will enjoy their road trips.
Happy Thanksgiving to you all!!! Hope to see at least some of you at Stafford on Saturday.

Re: NESCAC season 2014-2015

There are probably a dozen rinks within a couple of miles of Tufts - if they wanted to have a womens team they could find the ice.

Bowdoin was thinking an early turkey day last night. UMB played well!

Re: NESCAC season 2014-2015

Cardinal/Panther in Stafford at 3:30. Lots of history between the Soaring Eagles and Middlebury. GO U PANTHERS!!!

Re: NESCAC season 2014-2015

4-1 final Elmira looked very good and made it look easy. Panthers came alive for stretches but did not convert pp chances

Re: NESCAC season 2014-2015

1-1end of 2. Freda with a great effort roofs it while being hooked from left dot. Shots 25-19 GA

Re: NESCAC season 2014-2015

so...coming into exam week....any thoughts on where teams may end up?

Who's up or down from where you thought pre-season??

We get some interesting insight this weekend with the Bowdoin vs St. Anselm and Norwich and Amherst vs Norwich and Manhattanville along with other non-conference action. So far the Trinity win over Middlebury stands out, but to my mind the rest of the results are the NESCAC being the NESCAC.

Williams against Salve Regina and Manhattanville should give some insight into where this program is going this season as well (1-3 start for the Ephs). That being said, looking back at last season they started out slow and it worked out OK :).

The Ephs have serious goaltending issues and Bravi graduated having had a monster scoring season (who has 20 goals and 20 assists in the NESCAC these days?). It will be interesting to see their results against Salve and Manhattanville.

Def. agree with that. I think Bravi made that team click last year, really a big loss for them...and goaltending wins in the nescac...if you don't have it, you're in trouble. That said, I'm not sure I'd agree that they have "serious" goaltending issues....concern, yes, but we shall see.

Also surprised Wesly hasn't played better...and that the Spitting Camels are still undefeated at this point, with 3 very winnable games coming up in the next few days...I think Bowdoing is a Paper Tiger-bear...let's see how they do when they don't play Colby...

Not too surprised by Wesleyan to date - seem to have won the games I would have expected. They always split with Williams to open the season and beat Sacred Heart. Thought they might have a chance to beat Amherst (1 OT game) and/or Holy Cross, but not shocked they didn't. Another team that started slow last year. Saw 1 of their games via webcast. The Schildhaus/Jankowski/Sarosi line is very strong and fast. Expected more this season from Mead (based on the 1 game admittedly small sample, but she isn't showing up on the stat sheets either).

Am surprised by Conn College. Controlling their trips to the penalty box better this season and it appears to be paying off in wins. Appears that they learned a lesson last season and are applying the learning successfully.
