NESCAC '12 to '13

Re: NESCAC '12 to '13

Really??? Can't believe anyone would feel this is necessary to post -- do you see a "moron" when you look in the mirror? You couldn't possibly have a daughter like most of us on this site, since you clearly lack any compassion. Obviously, you are a teetotaler with a "holier than thou" attitude. Since you don't drink, what is it that you do while spending all of those lonely hours in your parent's basement? As a compassionate father -- I feel sorry for you.

That's pretty harsh. Polarbear2's comment seemed like a reasonable observation given the circumstances. I am of the opinion that many among us are thinking the same thing as a parent or not. Coaches and players are in the public eye to a degree, so a DUI is going to get noticed and discussed. PB2 said nothing that could be considered malicious, degrading or out of line. Lastly, PB2 could be a fall down drunk for all we know but may also have the good sense not get in a vehicle while inebriated.

Re: NESCAC '12 to '13

Teams trade 2nd period goals for a 3-1 score after 2. Zimmerman (18th) for Hamilton and Bourque (7th) for the Polar Bears.

Re: NESCAC '12 to '13

The NESCAC seeding is starting to come into vague focus, as it appears the top seed belongs to Middlebuy (a win this afternoon in Williamstown puts them at 12-2-2) and Amherst, Bowdoin and Trinity will finish in an order to be determined and host quarter-finals. Colby took a big step toward grabbing the 8th seed with their 2-1 win over Wesleyan, but they go at it again this afternoon. Conn, Hamilton and Williams are still scrambling for who gets to go where.
Do any NESCAC faithful have further insight or any thoughts on the question?

This is a massive and totally unjustified over-reaction. The original poster merely oberved that it would be interesting whether she would be on the bench given the event that happened, which is a reasonable question since it could impact the team, and made no judgement or offered no opinion about her or her actions whatsoever. This is a college coach, not a college player. And to suggest that the only options for drinking alcohol are teetotaler and driving into a building makes it clear that you are the moron. And by the way, if you really want to be upset, go to the thread where this is the only topic of the thread...

The sensitivity on this board is way to high as it is where the players are concerned, there shouldn't be a person whining about being mean to a coach. The person in question is a coach, a "role-model", and supposedly a leader of a team of "girls". She made an incredibly stupid decision and deserves all of the flack she gets for it. No I don't have a daughter, but if she were my daughter i'd say the exact same thing to her. There is nothing wrong with the comments of PB2 or anyone. You forget that this is a public discussion forum. If you or your daughters are at home crying over the comments that are posted on the board by random strangers than you need to reevaluate your participation in the board.

I go to bars and drink...I know when I've had to much to drive and I don't.

Best post i've ever read from you, GoJ!

Speaking of coaches, witnessed Mandigo this weekend.

Obviously his teams have been incredibly successful but...

Sitting far from the bench could hear him yelling at one player saying she will be up in the stands if she continues playing like that, dropping f-bombs for all in the rink to hear and constantly berating the refs.

Almost thought I was back in Concord watching a game.

Isn’t the NESCAC above this boorish behavior?

I was looking at the box scores trying to figure which game you are referring to? The game at Midd was called by Waters/Collamore and Williams served 3 minors with Midd assessed 4. The game at Williams saw Midd called for 4 minors and the Ephs 10 by the Kaselouskas/McGlynn crew. I am sure we have all been frustrated with the officiating one time or another and I may even have verbally (with an f-bomb or two thrown in) expressed my displeasure. I am sure I aspire to a higher standard than I know my own behavior has been able to meet in the occasional tirade I have shown my kids or co-workers when lapsing into the vernacular.

Re: NESCAC '12 to '13

It's pretty clear that the reffing in this league is terrible for the game. Refs time and again are playing a big part in determining the outcome of games. It's hockey, let them play. And for crying out loud, try and keep the penalties even. Leave the marginal stuff out of it; only call it if it takes away a scoring chance. And in overtime, don't get me going.
True, this is a problem with US hockey in general, but worse around these parts.

Big tilt at Kenyon this evening. No prediction as I do not know if it would or wouldn't jinx everyone.

hmmm...have anger issues, do you? Everything in your post is incorrect!! 1. My post is neither compassionate, nor does it lack compassion..it just is.(I made no judgement on the incident, I was only curious as to how the administration would handle such a thing) 2. I drink. 3. My parents are both deceased. 4. I have a daughter, and will welcome the arrival of my first grandchild (a boy) within a week, or so. (feel free to congratulate me!!) 5. I do not see a "moron" when I look in the mirror. I can only hope that the above post, somehow, made you feel better.

Obear...Cadets by a couple. Watched them on the web completely outplay Amherst for 2-periods before letting off the gas peddle IMO. Midd is deeper than Amherst. Norwich is a Championship contender.

Semi-big rescheduled conferance game at Trinity tonight hosting Amherst. Jeffs can nail down 3rd spot at a minimum with a win tonight and a shot at 2nd pending 2 games with the Polar Bears this weekend. A loss puts them in jeopardy of falling to 4th and a 1st round match up with...uh oh...ConnColl and "who do you want in goal for a 1-game playoff" Kelsie Fralick. Big spot here for both teams as the Bantams can leap-frog into 3rd spot if things fall their way (i.e. if the Bears falter; Trinity holds the tie-break w/ Bowdoin).

Hopefully I am not that much of a prude but when he was f-bombing his players at a stoppage in play for all the rink to hear, I thought that was classless.

It seems to be his SOP if he carried on that way in a game not in doubt and the whistle going Midd's way (10 - 4 in penalities as you state above).

Re: NESCAC '12 to '13

I agree on Norwich over Midd tonight. The Panthers will have to play their best to keep this one tight, and I think they are a bit gassed after the last few weeks trying to chase down the NESCAC regular season title. They have two very tough games here at the end of the season (Norwich and Elmira -- no one can fault them on strength of schedule) before they go into the NESCAC tourney.

Re: NESCAC '12 to '13

2-0 Amherst after 1. E Martin and Lloyd scoring. Bantams out-shot by a lot 16-2. Is this the same Bantam team that beat Bowdoin back-to-back recently and handled the Jeffs earlier in the year?? Trinity came into the weekend 8-1-1 and are in danger of dropping two in a row all of a sudden.
