NESCAC '12 to '13

Re: NESCAC '12 to '13

Nice to see the composition of the rankings changing a bit. Congrats to the PBs for breaking into the rankings in a big way. Also nice to see schools like Hamilton and Trinity receiving votes too. While its awesome the success that Midd (and Amherst) has had in the past, a bit of parity in the NESCAC, and in the league overall (see 8/10 schools ranked are not NESCAC members) can only be a great thing for DIII hockey.

Interesting comparison with the rankings and obear's math link...

Apparently math is on the NESCACS's side more than the poll is...

I also wonder what it will take for people to start taking Hamilton seriously. They have a habit of bowing out early and unceremoniously, but with the season that Zimmerman is having, and the potential for Hazlett to return to her old form (she had it against Utica it seems) things seem to be looking up in Clinton. I won't venture to say that they have turned around completely, but from experience, they can be a pretty pesky opponent, capable of some upsets, especially in the Sage.

....and don't shortchange the job Emily McNamara has done!! She had a great career as a player and assistant coach at Middlebury. Terrific bloodline for sure and ability to exude a winning strategy!

I completely agree. Clearly it was time for a change, and it is clearly making a difference! Thanks for pointing that out Plugger!

Re: NESCAC '12 to '13

Polar Bears take to the ice out west against St. Norbert this afternoon. Hopefully they continue their recent success prior to returning east for the meat of their NESCAC schedule.
GO U BEARS!!!

Re: NESCAC '12 to '13

PB 1 St Norbert 0 after 1. Shots 10-7 PB, if I am reading the out of focus scoreboard correctly. Very jerky video feed with no audio except the PA in the backround. Bowdoin goal off the forecheck behind the net, into gloveside corner and to top of crease into scrum...no idea who scored it.

Re: NESCAC '12 to '13

SN pp goal makes it 3-1...nice play on the points for some space walking to the top of the left circle for a quick wrister

Re: NESCAC '12 to '13

3-2 at 17:12 of the 3rd...pretty goal on a feed from behind the goal line to Connally's gloveside to Lindstrom in the slot for a quick shot in low

Re: NESCAC '12 to '13

Looks like Bowdoin wins 4-3 in OT, with 10 seconds to go to leave the West with 2 wins. Looks like a close game. Congratulations to the Bears heading out West and winning 2 games. Safe travels back East!!

Re: NESCAC '12 to '13

Although collegehockeystats shows the Wesleyan game @ 4, it is actually scheduled for 2 pm.

Thanks for the heads up on that...trying to convince the Editor we need to make a trip up Route 9, and it would not have been good to show up after the game!

Re: NESCAC '12 to '13

Congrats to the Bears on 2 wins out west...I miss the Sid since my move to the frozen North..

Hi PB2, miss you at the Sid. It will be interesting to see how the season plays out. We have had trouble with the Camels recently, but at least play the Panthers at home in a couple of weeks.
GO U BEARS!!!

Re: NESCAC '12 to '13

Nice win for the Cardinals this afternoon. Teams were very evenly matched and Corvi made the difference in the 3-1 victory.

Re: NESCAC '12 to '13

So, here we go into the heart of the conference schedule. It is time to see who are the pretenders and who will step up and control their own playoff hopes. I really should give up predicting, as my results have shown; any thoughts out there?

Right now it seems like Middlebury is the Crème de la crème of the NESCAC, and then it will be fun to watch from there, as the next four bunched together seem to be your Polar Bears, Hamilton, Amherst and Trinity. After that it looks like it might be Conn College, followed Wesleyan, Williams and Colby. I may have shortchanged CC, as I would not be surprised if they slid up to the first group I listed, and knock one of those down, but time will tell. Competition will be fun to watch this year, good luck to all!!
