NESCAC '12 to '13

Re: NESCAC '12 to '13

^^ good points^^

As I said both players are D-1 talent. no bout a dout it.

As to why Wes? Who knows...legacy, location, school...what does it really matter. The coach caught a break and I can tell you one thing the goals against will take a big drop next season...and you can bet the ranch on that one.

Time will tell. Let's not get to ahead of ourselves. Would it be good for Wesleyan to improve....absolutely!! We will keep our eyes peeled and we will know in six short months, as they will have a half a dozen games under their belts, and we can better evaluate then. Actions always speak louder than words.

Re: NESCAC '12 to '13

OMG the previous NESCAC thread has gone the way of all things!!!
Buzz there will be an announcement from Clinton one of these days...
A couple of notes from the field of hockey saw the Polar Bear's ice goalie Lessard make 4/5 saves in defeating Wesleyan 3-1 and the Panther's Greer score twice and assist twice in Midd's 5-2 win over Tufts (I am looking for a monster on ice scoring season from senior Greer). Apologies for missing any other noteables!
Moving obserbear's post to the original thread...

Re: NESCAC '12 to '13

Except for one thing....it's still apparently a 'secret' at Hamilton!! Still a lot of 'zippo' posted on their lame website....But it's not all bad...they did finally take down the picture and story indicating that BK was the coach of the team [I know, he only left weeks ago...these things take time]. Yowza.

Re: NESCAC '12 to '13

Anyone know the reason for Tracy Johnson's sudden departure, and if she's caught on anywhere else?

Message to the players and recruits is that Amherst will not be discussing it out of respect for Coach Johnson. Doesn't sound like something positive happened, unfortunately.

From the Amherst web site:

"AMHERST, Mass. - Tracy L. Johnson has resigned as the Interim Head Coach of the Amherst College women’s ice hockey team.

Johnson was an assistant coach during the 2011-12 season and she was appointed to the Interim Head Coach position in July, 2012. In her debut season with the program in 2011-12, Johnson helped lead the Lord Jeffs to a 21-6-1 overall record and a 13-2-1 mark in conference play. Amherst advanced to the NESCAC finals for a sixth-consecutive year and was one of only eight teams selected to participate in the NCAA tournament."

Re: NESCAC '12 to '13

Coach Johnson had sort of a Digit Murphy situation going on...Just a huge problem that the school could not turn it's back on. Too bad, but that stuff simply has no place in ssports or anywhere else... can't be tolerated.

Re: NESCAC '12 to '13

I don't think coach Johnson has been around 40 years and unwilling to change her ways when it comes to recruiting and on ice systems. Must have been something elese.

I was trying to be diplomatic....The answer is pretty obvious if you can add 1+1....you don't get 3.

It was an "inappropriate" situation...let's leave it at that.

Well, in that case it wasn't a Digit Murphy situation was it.

Re: NESCAC '12 to '13

Ummm, yes. Whether it was the same, better or worse, is up to each to decide. Any way you slice it....not good.

[and unfortunately, Amherst will struggle for the next several years because if it...{once Plumer's recruits are gone that is}.

Re: NESCAC '12 to '13

The other hockey regular season ends tomorrow, and that must mean we are getting close to ice time. I see Amherst has a roster up on their women's hockey page. Polar Bears begin their season with a trip across the Lake to Plattsburgh (I still have Black and White nightmares about their last appearance in the friendly confines of Stafford). Any other pre-season buzz out there?

Re: NESCAC '12 to '13

Getting close to the party starting. The Polar Bears still have 3 teams in NCAA competition (goalie Lessard plays field hockey; not sure how many other ice hockey players are on the field hockey, soccer or volleyball team) and Middlebury has home NCAA action in soccer and field hockey (meaning Greer is unlikely to be on ice at Kenyon Friday). Williams still has their soccer team competing.
This weekend sees 8 NESCAC teams begin their conference schedules.
Amherst and Hamilton play their home and home series. I look for the Lord Jeffs to take 4 points.
Colby travels to Middlebury and I cannot imagine that works out too well for the White Mules, as the Panthers appear the class of the conference.
Williams plays 2 at Wesleyan; is this the year for Cardinal Cool-aide? Split
Conn College heads up Route 2 and plays Trinity; 4 points for the Bantams
The Polar Bears take their show on the road and visit Plattsburgh; see comment on the White Mule weekend (it will be the Cardinals 6th game of the season, and, well let's just say Stafford has never been kind to Bowdoin; 3/12/05 was a bit of a disaster and the last trip over, 12/2-12/3/05 saw 2 losses: http://www.uscho.com/scoreboard/plattsburgh/womens-hockey/2005-2006/ .
That said: GO U BEARS!!!
All the Best to players, coaches and fans for the coming season!!!
Update: So the various NESCACs go 0 for 6 in their NCAA competitions! Congratulations to all the players, coaches and parents on successful fall seasons!

NESCAC women are not quite 0-fer in NCAA fall sports play. Tufts is still alive in NCAA field hockey. Odd that the Jumbo women (non-flattering nickname) do not have an ice hockey team.
