Re: NCHA 10-11.....**** You St. Norbert

UWS 4-3-7

UWS has tied every single playoff team. I don't think thats a good thing.
They lost to Adrian, River Falls and CUW. So as long as they don't draw CUW in the first round we'll be ok. I'll be interested to see how they would do against River Falls and Adrian in a one and done situation. I'm wondering if this week off will be a good or bad thing as well.

Re: NCHA 10-11.....**** You St. Norbert

Three teams :UWEC,Conc, And UWSP all vying for the fourth and final home ice playoff spot. only 1 point separates them UWEC and Conc at 21 pts and UWSP at 20 pts. Should make for a most interesting week end. Fifth place will also be of keen interest as 4-5 will be seeing each other in the playoffs. We'll know how things shake out after this final week of play. Any predictions ? :D

I agree with the CUW/UWS and UWSP/UWEC match ups. With that said...

Currently Lake Forest has 17 points. They should win both games this week which would then leave them finishing with 21 points. Currently SNC has 19 points. I see them splitting this weekend with Adrian which would then leave them finishing with 21 points.

So now I have a question for GoJ since I know he will know the answer..Who wins the tie breaker? They split earlier in the season, so does it go to overall goals scored against the other or what?

I believe it goes wins, then goals against each other. So SNC would win because they outscored LF if SNC wins a game from Adrian. If they (SNC) tie both games and LF sweeps they would have more conference wins. So LF would win.

Falcon's announcer is right

From my post below

7. SNC 19 ( A split with Adrian will give SNC 7th over LFC, anything else and LFC takes it. They split head to head. The 2nd tie breaker is NCHA wins. A split gives SNC 9, LFC should have 9, two ties would only give SNC 8 wins. 3rd tie breaker is goal differential in games between tied teams, LF beat SNC 3-2, while SNC beat LFC 3-1, advantage SNC.

SNC has struggled to win against the other playoff teams. And I think Adrian is good enough to win and tie if not sweep. Michelin doesn't give up many goals and Adrian knows how to score. SNC doesn't give up many goals, but they don't score all that much either it seems. I give Adrian the edge personally.

Re: NCHA 10-11.....**** You St. Norbert

Hence the title of the thread. UWS, UWSP, and UWRF with the exception of Lake Forest breaking through somewhat last year have dominated the NCHA since its inception. I have a feeling SNC will have something to say about that and one of those 3 will fall. I'm hoping UWSP continues its downfall.... :D

Re: NCHA 10-11.....**** You St. Norbert

I agree with you falconsannouncer, Adrian should sweep. Its hard to judge how Coach Lamato has been recruiting though, because there big guns were all recruited by the previous coach, except Michelin. I give her credit for taking on teams like RIT. I heard they are bringing in a transfer goalie(in her Senior year) from Wayne State to be there #1 goalie next year, which will make them very tough next year! Has anyone heard the same rumor? This should make them the front runner in the NCHA!

You mean the best way to solve a problem with too many goalies on the roster is to bring in yet another?

I'm sure there are other thoughts on the matter though...

Re: NCHA 10-11.....**** You St. Norbert

I was thinking more along the lines of having my team sitting in 2nd place going into the playoff's on the back of my 1000 + minute freshman goalie only to have her find out that rumours are swirling that she is going to be replaced next season by a Senior transfer from a D1 school. That's the problem with rumours...true or not they can be back breakers. But hey...the players never read these boards....do they?

Looking back on Adrian's short history, they seem to have a new #1 goalie quite frequently and keep on bringing in more.

I would say that many coaches in D3 have a difficulty being happy (i.e. watching her develop over time) with the goalies they have as you have a short season and need to get at least 2 goalies work to avoid the injury disaster. They have an imperative to win now so bringing in a D1 goalie to complement a starter who is doing fine (judged by w/l record) instead of improving the goalies on your bench seems to be the strategy here.

I wouldn't read too much into the idea of all D1 transfers (look at the specifics of the goalie for yourself) automatically being a replacement for the experienced D3 goalie already in place. In this case, the 1 year complementary goalie (not necessarily a #1), in the coaches minds is a way to put a couple years between his current #1 and a future #1 (to be recruited next year).

I think it says more about what coach thinks of his current crop of backups (and how much he is willing to invest in them) than of his starter.

And yes, some players read these boards and laugh at the parents trying to spin some players as all-stars.

that their coach is half their problem and they'll never be a true contender with her there?

They beat the Jackets, finished in second. I would say they are contenders. They will start getting respect when they hire a coach from within the NCHA or win the playoffs. I"m looking forward to the playoffs and I wouldn"t want to draw St. Norbert!

They have respect at least from the booth in RF.....and have since they entered the league.
