NCHA 10-11.....**** You St. Norbert

Re: NCHA 10-11.....**** You St. Norbert

They beat the Jackets, finished in second. I would say they are contenders. They will start getting respect when they hire a coach from within the NCHA or win the playoffs. I"m looking forward to the playoffs and I wouldn"t want to draw St. Norbert!

So this brings up a few questions

First is the only place a good coach can come from the NCHA?

So being ranked third in the west earns them no respect ?

Finally do you feel that SNC needs you to help by talking all this smack ?

Sounds more like the rantings of a desperate hockey dad to me. It cheapens the high class start that SNC has worked so hard for and earned through hard work and commitment from the players, coaching staff and school. Just proves that a high class program produces high class players but not the same calibur of fans.

In my mind, row43 is just expressing an opinion.
I believe that the Lady Knights are playing with a ton of confidance at this point in the season.
They are getting solid goal tending, playing very good defense and scoring enough to be in most of their games.
And we know defense wins championships.
With a split this weekend vs Adrian, I think the 'confidance meter' goes up a few more degrees.

By beating a team that has no repect from anyone you think the confidance meter goes up and even enough to win a championship 43 didn't give you any koolaid did he?

Re: NCHA 10-11.....**** You St. Norbert

Looking back on Adrian's short history, they seem to have a new #1 goalie quite frequently and keep on bringing in more.

I would say that many coaches in D3 have a difficulty being happy (i.e. watching her develop over time) with the goalies they have as you have a short season and need to get at least 2 goalies work to avoid the injury disaster. They have an imperative to win now so bringing in a D1 goalie to complement a starter who is doing fine (judged by w/l record) instead of improving the goalies on your bench seems to be the strategy here.

I wouldn't read too much into the idea of all D1 transfers (look at the specifics of the goalie for yourself) automatically being a replacement for the experienced D3 goalie already in place. In this case, the 1 year complementary goalie (not necessarily a #1), in the coaches minds is a way to put a couple years between his current #1 and a future #1 (to be recruited next year).

I think it says more about what coach thinks of his current crop of backups (and how much he is willing to invest in them) than of his starter.

And yes, some players read these boards and laugh at the parents trying to spin some players as all-stars.
Adrian is in it's 4th season. Dana Timm was the #1 Goalie for the first 3 years of the program. Michelin has done a great job this year. I believe it will take a lot to oust her from the #1 spot.

Adrian is likely going to earn enough points this weekend to lock up 2nd in the conference.
I'd consider that a pretty good performance by their players and coaching staff.
Plus I made no mention of SNC winning a championship (at least not this season). They will contend for a title in the not too distant future.

Re: NCHA 10-11.....**** You St. Norbert

Thanks, Pete thats all I meant. They are playing really good. I never talk smack, it as ruined te game of basketball. I believe Adrian should be ranked higher in the national poll. I have not looked at the west poll. Oops. Its nice to know Falconannouncer, also gives them respect. In closing dogwatcher, I am impressed with the Lady Knights and Coach Morgan would be my choice for coach of the year! (if I had a vote). But there are 3 big week ends left in the season also, so my vote could change. I am going to check out the west poll now. By the way, I don't drink koolaid! anyone in for a Bud Light, I'm buying!

Adrian already has 2nd locked up. I wasn't disrespecting Adrian's players or success...just voicing concerns on coaching that I've heard for several years

These programs are going to have an ebb and a flow, it happens, its natural. John Wooden went 12 years before he won a championship. Joe Pa went 4 of 5 years with a sub-.500 record at the beginning of the last decade. I think it is a little early to worry about coaching for any of the teams in the conference. Now if a team stays in the cellar for a 5-10 years, maybe they are out classed like a Marian and Finlandia might be or just maybe after 5-10 years the coaching scenario is right and its time to get fresh **blood in there.

Another thing is these coaches all made the playoffs. They must be doing something right. Adrian has been a scary team to me since day one, because I feel they can beat anybody or lose to anyone on any given day just like the rest of the teams. Look back to the first game against RIT, a 4-2 loss, not bad. The next day not so good but were the girls emotionally deflated after the hard fought loss the night before, did they give so much they ran out of steam? I don't know I wasn't there, but the Bulldogs are anything but a disappointing team.

It takes a special team to be undefeated heading into the last weekend of the season. But as the level of play in the NCHA increases especially as WIAA girls hockey improves, I see the points gap from 1-9 shrinking considerably on average in the next five years from 20+ down to more in the 12-15 pt range. And even 11th place, if 11 teams are still in the league, being much closer in points range within five years.

Anyways, I guess I'm saying its not so much the coaching, as the natural ebb and flow of all sports not just hockey. And sometimes, its just a bad bounce that can end a season or start one anew.

**Or could be fresh meat for Cranston and the Falcons. HEHE have to get my fun in.

Big Weekend for some teams as they jockey for playoff positioning

River Falls vs Marian---River Falls wins big both games
LFC vs Finlandia---LFC sweeps
Eau Claire vs CSS--I think UWEC sweeps. Easy win game 1, tough win game 2 and locks up 4th.

Stevens Point @ CUW I really think this will be a split. I could see CUW taking 3 points.

Adrian vs St Norbert This is an interesting matchup as Adrian can't really improve its position and SNC could improve a lot. I have a feeling this will definitely be a split.

I know that you have never shown any disrespect for Adrian or any other program for that matter ( fans not so much) . I have seen you rank them when they deserve it. My comments were to 43 and 99 both of which are unaware of the fact that Adrian has garnered respect in the womens D3 hockey world. I too am also aware of the short commings of the program which seem to be mostly the result of poor coaching. I just find it funny that someone would say they won't gain respect until they hire a coach from the NCHA or win the playoffs. Then to be shocked that they are ranked 3rd in the west and unaware of the fact they are second in the NCHA. I think before they would make statements like that they would do some homework of their own. I would think that SNC's coach would be a good canidate for coach of the year with a fine job of putting a first year team together that is competitive however there is a guy in River Falls that has coached his team to a so far undefeated season , in my opion making him the front runner. I have also seen River Falls play live 5 or 6 timesover the last four years and can say from that they are a well coached team that can and does out preform their physical ability because they play the game smart. It is always fun to watch them play.

Re: NCHA 10-11.....**** You St. Norbert

Eight to go in the second. SNC 2 Adrian 0. SOG SNC 12 Adrian 11

Thanks for the updates 24 and glad you throw in the SOG's every time cause a lot of ppl that report scores here don't. Really, it tells half the story.

I mean look at the picture it paints knowing the SOG's in the first 2 periods of this game.

Good Luck in the 3rd. :)

Being that I have followed Adrian hockey since they went D-3, your comment that "99 both of which are unaware of the fact that Adrian has garnered respect" is not even close to an accurate statement.

I believe in you 99! I was referring to the uscho poll that had Adrian behind superior, thats all. And I am aware Adrian had second place locked up. Adrian didn't come to play tonight, it looks like, and the Lady Knights put a few pucks in the net. I can't wait to see the pairings for next weekend!
