Re: NCHA 10-11.....**** You St. Norbert

Can we start a dogwatcher/bdogsrocks flamefest thread so that we don't have to deal with this here?

You know what Go J...I've learned more about the NCHA by reading this thread than I thought I'd ever be interested in.

Can I suggest you just sit back and relax, read what ya wanna read and let ppl express their opinions.

This is afterall....what makes horse races.

1)" I never thought Wintermute was all that great" Sounds negative to me.
2) "Maybe without good defenseman this year" Negative for sure
So my guess is I am not the only negative person

" Grubbs is unstoppable" Not accurate this year so far, hopefully her struggles are behind her and she can regain her scoring touch.

" It should bode well for when Adrian plays them next month" If we play our game and our players get back on track we should win. Most of our losses are self inflicted. We are talented enough to win games without the other team helping us.

"From what I've heard, LF is very weak on defense this year" See you already have no problem being given your opinion.

Not sure why Bdogsrock is always picking on LF. Wintermute has been the backbone of the team and the only losses she has this year are against UWRF and she saved them from embarrassment. Hopefully she can continue her streak. There are some people that like to spout any opinion which is fine but it definitely helps if you're a bit knowledgeable. Negative opinions don't help put the NCHA in a very good light. Everyone is doing their best to make this a reputable league.

Re: NCHA 10-11.....**** You St. Norbert

Not to clog up the fan poll page. I'm worried about UWS this weekend at SNC. They desperately need the 4 points to keep pace with River Falls, but there are a few factors that are going to hinder them.

First I added it up and about the time they pull into DePere on Friday, they will have traveled 2000 miles in the past 2 weeks. That has to have an impact on their play. Superior's offense has been a little shaky the past couple years. I suspect they will shoot a lot, but it seems even against weaker goalies they have trouble gettin them in the net, so a top goalie like SNC seems to have can cause them some problems. It also will provide an interesting special teams match-up. UWS with the top power play in the conference vs SNC with the best PK. These two teams are 1 & 2 in combined special teams as well.

Its interesting when you look at the stat lines. SNC's scoring per period is 13, 16, 22, 0 While UWS' is 13, 16, 19, 2

Either way should be a couple of great games in DePere. Here's hoping for a UWS sweep of all 4 games between the two schools this weekend. Ladies in Depere, Men in Superior.
With the schedule change for the mens games to Thurs/Fri, I can get back in time for the Sat. game @ the CCC!!!
Plus I can squeeze in the Adrian @ Lawrence Mens game in Appleton before the womens game at nite.

one down!!

one down!!
One down for the Knights, that is.
Jackets played a very smart game and took advantage of their opportunities at the end of the first period. SNC had their own chances, but could not finish.
The Amsoil Arena is an awesome facility!!!

Re: NCHA 10-11.....**** You St. Norbert

It's great SNC added womens hockey, but there is no reason why they can't broadcast the games.

There are several teams that have been around a long time that don't broadcast the games. I'm sure its only a matter of time.

Re: NCHA 10-11.....**** You St. Norbert

:oLook for even more upsets and surprises in the NCHA as the season winds down. Certainly some surprises this past week. Look for Scholastica, Norberts and Concordia to do some damage.

Re: NCHA 10-11.....**** You St. Norbert

SNC is NOT a team I want to draw in the NCHA playoffs...yikes that team is really starting to look like a spoiler...

Re: NCHA 10-11.....**** You St. Norbert

I've been to a few SNC women games including one vs UWRF and one vs UW-Sup. Seems to me that UWRF is the class of the conference (even with a SNC tie), but I would agree that anyone else probably doesn't want to see SNC in the playoffs. Defense is solid and with any scoring, they could be a spoiler.

Any thoughts on SNC playing on a larger sheet of ice? Any impact? Interesting to me that the 1 and 2 teams in the conference both had tough games at SNC and I wonder if the larger sheet of ice plays a role.

Superior's rink is pretty big. I'm not sure if it's an olympic sheet, but its definitely larger than others in the conference. I'm pretty sure River Falls is smaller. From what i've heard a larger sheet of ice can affect a team in more ways than just further to skate. We knew that it was only going to be a matter of time until SNC started coming around and gelling togeter...clearly that has happened.

I'd say some definte shocking results in the NCHA this week.

I'm not too surprised with the SNC/UWS tie, since SNC tied River Falls last week....but 0-0 is surprising always.
the most surprising result is definitely the CUW 6 Lake Forest 2 score.
Eau Claire sweeping Stevens Point is definitely a sign of struggles in pointer land as well. eau claire is good this year..but to be swept by them is not a good sign.
It even seems that River Falls struggled wiith Saint Scholastica this weekend. Not a good sign for the NCHA in the NCAA's if we can't get some scoring over decent goalies.

Superior is not an olympic sheet. I believe it's 90 feet wide. Olympic is 100.
