2 for chirping... I'm going to reach out to you (vs. blasting you)... You have 71 posts (albeit to my 14 posts) and you have the audacity to go after gojackets (5,924 posts and clearly understands the game way more than you); state your game! Or just agree to be on the board for improving women's hockey... Isn't that what we should be doing?

Thanks for coming to my defense, but i'll be the first to advocate that the number of posts doesn't reflect intelligence. See OldPio, for example, nearly 8,000 posts and still a moron :D

Re: NCHA 10-11.....**** You St. Norbert

Why is Lake Forest sitting Wintermute in these big games? She doesn't play last weekend and gets the tie yesterday, then sits today. Doesn't seem to make much sense to me, unless they are starting to prepare for next year.

Not just sitting her, she's not suiting up. Maybe injured, maybe quit, maybe low GPA Whoever knows isn't talking. For now she just isn't there.

Re: NCHA 10-11.....**** You St. Norbert

Outstanding game by St Norberts. And to think they're getting it done without 5 players including their two top scorers. Keep it up and they'll be a big factor come playoffs.

According to the box score she played against UWS on Friday and against the Pointers on the 4th, but didn't play against SNC or today. Granted she gave up 5 goals to the POinters and 2 late goals against UWS yesterday to give up the tie, but she was 1-0-1 in those games. I'd think you would want experience in these games.

Great defensive effort from the Lady Knights this weekend, especially from Gibson.
Keep playing like this the rest of the season and they should qualify for the playoffs.
How far they go, without a lot of scoring punch, is debatable.
Still to battle this hard, without their top 2 scorers, is quite an accomplishment for this young team.

Kind of seems like you answered your own question. If I were a coach and my goalie let in 5 goals in one game and then 2 goals late in another game to blow a lead, I'm not sure I'd play her either. Then again, I don't know how those 2 goals went in. From what I've heard, LF is very weak on defense this year so maybe it was a defensive breakdown. I never thought Wintermute was all that great from the times I've seen her play at our barn anyway. Maybe without good defenseman this year, it's just starting to show. It should be bode well for when Adrian when we play them next month as Grubbs is unstoppable.:) Then again, our tie against Point makes me look a bit stupid here.;)

The loss today doesn't help your cause much either, as far as your take on the team goes have you even seen our team play this year? We had one line who happened to be minus 5 vs RIT and they played all game, would you have pulled them? As far as unstoppable: 3 goals, 2 assists, and even plus minus seems more like nearly average. Please read the stats or watch games before making bold claims stating what you would do and have someone that understands the game explain what you have just seen and read; then if we want your opinion we'll have some one give it to you.

Apparently Grubbs was not much of a factor today:D

It seems to me that our goalie did the same thing against RIT, 2 big goals in the third to lose the first game, then an 8 nothing loss the next day. Though I was at the game and our goalie was not what lost us either game because she was the only thing keeping us in the first game. But for you to say Grubbs is unstoppable you must really know nothing about the sport of hockey. If you look at her statistically through the years she had a rocky freshman year with 13 points, which is expected, then sophomore year she excelled scoring a season high 36 points, she slacked her junior year with 23 points, and this year which is half way over she only has 5 points. So clearly she is stoppable. And against RIT she was on the ice for 5 of their 8 goals the second day. She is at any given time the worst player on the squad because from the stands it is easy to see she plays totally uninspired . She never moves her feet unless it’s because she thinks she’s going to score and backchecking is not in her vocabulary. Though for some reason the coach can't see it but all the players, fans, and any person who knows anything about hockey can see this. And the line as a whole is struggling this year to produce and is more often than not stuck in their own end. And I think the loss today against point makes you look a bit stupid as well.

Grubbs hasn't been much of a factor all year. 5 points in 14 games and even plus minus. Not someone I would worry about. Actually the whole line is nothing to worry about. You have lazy, dangles and invisible man.

First of all, why is it that every time you have a post, it's extremely negative or you are attacking someone else? You seem to hate Adrian and always have bad things to say about them and/or the coach yet your name is dogwatcher. I caught one game first semester because most of their games were away and it was one of the St. Scholastica games and I thought we looked pretty good. I hope to catch more this semester. But regardless, RIT is one of the top teams in the country and we just got back from Christmas break and were probably not prepared. I don't profess to say that we are the best team in the country, but at least I'm a loyal fan. And if you knew anything about our team, you'd realize that we have lapses in play but ALWAYS come up big towards the end of the year. We are still a very young program and managed to beat some good teams in the past few years - we got 3 pts from UWS this season. So don't sit there and tell me that YOU are going to give me my opinion when all of your comments are demeaning and confrontational. This is a message board for people to give their opinions, not to be flogged if they differ from yours.

Re: NCHA 10-11.....**** You St. Norbert

Standings after the weekend
1 Wis-River Falls 19 10
Wis-Superior 19 12
3 Adrian 14 10
4 Concordia (WI) 13 11
5 Wis-Eau Claire 11 10
Wis-Stevens Pt. 11 10
St. Scholastica 11 12
8 Lake Forest 10 10
St. Norbert 10 12
10 Finlandia 0 10
Marian 0 11

River Falls with 2 less games than Superior obviously ahead of the Jackets. Adrian's results this weekend negate their 2 game deficit on Superior, putting them clearly in the 2 spot.

Looking at remaining schedules of the top teams. River Falls probably has the easiest road with 2 against CSS, 2 vs Finlandia, 2 vs Marian. They also have the two against Adrian and SUperior. Superior has a tough road with 2@ SNC, 2 @ UWSP, and 2 vs River Falls...Adrian's schedule is tough as well with trips to River Falls, Lake Forest, and SNC with pesky eau claire comin to town.

The standings are so odd with the different numbers of games making it hard to predict final standings. I'll go out on a limb and pick RIver Falls first, Superior 2nd...then a whole slew of different scenarios there down. WIth that schedule I could see Adrian finishing anywhere from 3rd to 6th.

This argument is comical if you think about it! Aren't both of you supposed to be rooting for the same team? It'd be like GoJackets yelling at a poster who's name is SuperiorIsBest. Let's just all agree to disagree on certain points, let the coaches and players do their job, and see how this thing shakes out. Like GoJackets pointed out, there are a bunch of different scenarios and the next few weeks will really tell which teams want to win vs. which teams are there just for the dog and pony show.

Re: NCHA 10-11.....**** You St. Norbert

Kaley Gibson was outstanding in goal for the Lady Knights. She faced constant pressure from the Falcons in both games.
Allowed just four goals in 87 attempts. Her stats for the season are impressive: GAA -- 1.79. Save % = 94.7%.
SNC has a strong group of blue liners in front of Gibson, who also played very well in both games.
The key for the Knights going forward is to continue playing strong defense and score a couple opportune goals.

Not to clog up the fan poll page. I'm worried about UWS this weekend at SNC. They desperately need the 4 points to keep pace with River Falls, but there are a few factors that are going to hinder them.

First I added it up and about the time they pull into DePere on Friday, they will have traveled 2000 miles in the past 2 weeks. That has to have an impact on their play. Superior's offense has been a little shaky the past couple years. I suspect they will shoot a lot, but it seems even against weaker goalies they have trouble gettin them in the net, so a top goalie like SNC seems to have can cause them some problems. It also will provide an interesting special teams match-up. UWS with the top power play in the conference vs SNC with the best PK. These two teams are 1 & 2 in combined special teams as well.

Its interesting when you look at the stat lines. SNC's scoring per period is 13, 16, 22, 0 While UWS' is 13, 16, 19, 2

Either way should be a couple of great games in DePere. Here's hoping for a UWS sweep of all 4 games between the two schools this weekend. Ladies in Depere, Men in Superior.

1)" I never thought Wintermute was all that great" Sounds negative to me.
2) "Maybe without good defenseman this year" Negative for sure
So my guess is I am not the only negative person

" Grubbs is unstoppable" Not accurate this year so far, hopefully her struggles are behind her and she can regain her scoring touch.

" It should bode well for when Adrian plays them next month" If we play our game and our players get back on track we should win. Most of our losses are self inflicted. We are talented enough to win games without the other team helping us.

"From what I've heard, LF is very weak on defense this year" See you already have no problem being given your opinion.

Re: NCHA 10-11.....**** You St. Norbert

Can we start a dogwatcher/bdogsrocks flamefest thread so that we don't have to deal with this here?

I'll agree with you on RF and Superior at 1 and 2. You can throw a blanket over the next 7 teams (Adrian, SNC, UWSP, UWEC, LF, Concordia, Scholastica) and leave Finlandia and Marian home for the playoffs. Unfortunately, on of the 7 middle teams also gets to stay home (my bet is Scholastica). Another one gets a trip to RF for the first round. While Superior seems to have collected a few more points than the middle teams, they don't seem to be a lock to beat any of them 2 out of 3 (although home ice might be an advantage over the more distant teams). And if SNC can tie RF and that "pesky" UWEC team took them to OT in their own barn, RF is not unstoppable in a single elimination game. Should make for an exciting stretch run and tournament.
