NCAA Rankings 2/19/13

Re: NCAA Rankings 2/19/13

I've followed the KRACH for years in D-1. I think it's usually the best yardstick out there, and worth citing in a conversational vein, at the very least. (It's maybe worth noting that the NCAA ratings have the same top-five as it does, albeit in a slightly different order.)

While I do realize that nobody credits the KRACH with any official weight, no one knows what the esteemed committee considers on Selection Sunday, either... (That disclosure would apparently have national-security implications.)

I didn't take the time to look-up from whence the SOS rankings came that I commented upon last night. My sincere apologies to Prof on that one.

One look at the D-3 PWC some weeks ago convinced me never to go back, but I was shamed into doing so again tonight, and its SOS ranking is even more of a mystery to me than it once was. (How, for example, can M'ville reasonably be #6 in that metric, and Neumann #13..? Those numbers are raw, indeed.)
Fish, with all due respect, if you bothered to read the VERY concise and useful description of this process and it's components (like what SOS IS) you might avoid much embarrassment. That information can be found at: http://www.d3hockey.com/bracketology/men/12-13/feb-20

Re: NCAA Rankings 2/19/13

I wonder if this is a precursor to how selection Sunday is going to go. If they would only follow the criteria in a transparent way, it would be simple. D-I follows it explicitly and the selection is apolitical and transparent. D-III used to be that way before they made the process a corrupt one.

Re: NCAA Rankings 2/19/13

Obviously they ran the numbers, Utica still came out #1, so they're working on a new set of criteria after realizing the ranking system must be flawed. :p

Bill Beaney & Bob Emery weren't amused by the Fire threads and have called in some favors to keep the on-line experts on edge...

More likely they are afraid of incurring the wrath of the Fishman and were afraid to announce a set of rankings in which Utica wasn't both #1 and #2 (they are that good :D)

It's unfortunate that this much Time is needed this week to come up with THE PROPER STORY MARCH 3

Re: NCAA Rankings 2/19/13

What is going on? Anyone with connections know why the 2/26 (now 2/27) rankings haven't been released? Is Oswego trying to find a way to get Plattsburgh replaced with Buffalo State in the eastern rankings? Utica trying to find a way to get the tournament deemed unnecessary and just give the Pioneers the trophy (or at least move the whole tournament to the Aud)?
