Depending on which media guide you look at, tonight is either the 350th or 353rd meeting between Michigan and Michigan State, but either way, it is the first time in series history they’ll meet as 1 and 2.
 
The worst thing about watching UAA is not the fact that they are terrible, it’s the fact that they’re terrible and there’s nothing that can realistically be done to fix it. Outside of just shutting the program down.

I watched a little bit last night before it froze and no matter what I did it kept stopping at the same point. But nice to see that they’re playing at Sullivan again. Or is that only for games against UAF?

If Marysville can move up soon and they can somehow form a conference, that would be beneficial for all the independents. I think it’s the Coast 2 Coast conference in D3 that found a loophole where you can have a conference that doesn’t really play except for a conference tournament, and that still gets a bid to the NCAA tournaments. That seems like a good middle ground for how spread out the current schools are. And this independent tournament this year almost seems like a pilot for it.

The independents are already playing each other a lot, but going the conference tournament route offers flexibility to not be locked into travel and get more buy games.

Friday night, Hobart beat Oswego, 6-1. This was Hobart's 63rd consecutive home win. This ties them with Cornell for the all time collegiate record. Hobart's next home game is February 20 versus Buffalo State (on paper, a very easy win).

Cornell ran their streak in 1967-72. I heard they had a pretty decent goalie for some of those years... :)

It's only for the games against UAF.

I mean, the independents do technically have a "conference" tournament now.

Two first round issues this week. A Big Ten matchup in the 2/15 game and ECAC in 8/9. Flip BC and Wisconsin and to avoid flipping an entire regional site, I think it ends up flipping QU and STU on the three-seed line.

Conference breakdown: Big Ten - 4, NCHC - 4, ECAC - 3, HE - 3, CCHA- 1, AHA - 1
IN: UConn
OUT: Augustana (15)

CCHA has three teams 16-18 waiting on the outside.
 
Not fun seeing the Linesmen take the bad reff'ing onto themselves. I have never seen so many players being thrown out of a face off. The only thing going for them is that they did it evenly. But they seemed to have a big attitude.

It must be a point of emphasis this year. There's been a huge uptick in that across all games I've watched.

This one is messy. There are Big Ten, NCHC, and ECAC first round games. Then you get into one seeds being placed closest to home with Denver hosting on the two line.

CCHA once again stacking teams on the bubble. They now hold spots 16-19 in the NPI.

Looks like it was going to run into the next round so they agreed to play the 11th OT as normal, then a 12th OT 3x3, before going to a shootout. They ended up needing the shootout.
