NCAA Hockey - 2023/24 **Insert Witty Tagline**

The Cornell game threads have been a paroxysm of doom this season. Every team has fans who depend on nothing going wrong to compensate for their chronic E.D. and who scream like scalded babies the second anything does.

Yeah, I’m sure it isn’t unique to the Gophers. Losing the 2023 title game really turned it up to 11, though.

The CHN app still isn’t using loading the Pairwise rankings. Usually it takes a few weeks so the Ivies actually have comparisons but by now it should be in there. Still glad to have it regardless. I don’t know if any other score apps even have college hockey, and if the others do they’re probably inundated with gambling ads or integrated with a sportsbook right into the app.

The good news is my team didn't lose this weekend. Bad news is it was a bye week.

I get the entire squad decided to bolt for greener pastures once the coach decided the AHL was better, but ugh.

NMU is not as bad as the record ahows, but the lack of scoring is absolutely killing them. This team would be facing exhibition style blowout losses if it wasn't for the hustle from defense and the goaltending. The dam is gonna break and this team is gonna get rolling soon.

So many good points I saw in person a month ago. They hustle for the puck, always moving, always getting involved in the play.... it's like watching a team full of piano movers. We just need some piano players.

Has pairwise been updated so it actually reflects the current field or is it still only actually relevant once 100% of the games have been played?

It is updated after every game is played, at least on the webpage, but it is only 100% accurate once all games have finished for the season. Usually I don't start looking at it until January, since there is still a decent amount of OOC games during the holidays. There is much less movement once league games resume in January. Usually.

The Pairwise matrix on their website is probably the best at showing “current field” when it includes the postseason odds, but even that still isn’t all that great until you get later in the season and they can separate who will get in AQ only vs at large possibilities.

I just like having the rankings on the app because the schedule screen doesn’t show records so it’s nice to have a gauge on how big some games or upsets are all together on one screen.

I actually don't mind 3x3, especially in college it puts the top talent on the ice and gives them room. Certainly beats the fcking shootout.

I've come around on 3x3 as well as it's turned into a pure skills competition. It's really enjoyable even if it's not pure hockey.

My perfect rules scheme is 60 minutes in the regular season and it's over. In the playoffs, you resurface the ice and play 20s until there's a goal.
