Re: NBA 2009-2010: More ref complaints
Nothing like relying on Delta to get you home on time to watch the game.
I'm hoping the Celtics aren't flying them out to LA. They might make it in time for game 7 if they left this morning (their luggage is another matter)
Anyway....
The refs have been pretty evenly atrocious for both sides, so I give them credit for that. Every stupid call on the Celtics has pretty much been offset by a stupid call on the Lakers. They also seem to have no problems calling fouls on Bryant. Its probably his teammates asking them to so he'll get off their case.
As far as Gasol goes, he's doing a better job with Garnett than last time but he can't outmuscle Davis and he's afraid of Wallace. He also has the same problem the whole team does, including Kobe, which is they don't do anything if they don't have the ball. I rarely see any help defense, nor do they track down long rebounds or fill passing lanes. Bynam or Gasol may defend their man okay, but how is it that 6 foot guards get uncontested layups regularly or hit shots in the paint? Or 6-1 Rondo outleaping Bryant for a crucial tip-in (don't remember stuff like that happening to Jordan too often).
I'm not thrilled going back to LA for two and can see the refs forcing a game 7. However, the matchups still favor the Celtics. I don't think the Lakers best game can beat the Celtics best game, and we have yet to see the C's put on a performance like they did in some of those Cleveland and Orlando games. The Lakers are down to 5 guys now. The Celtics bench is 9 deep. In Game 6, with one days rest, run those guys off the court. They can't afford to get into foul trouble and they can't all play 45 minutes a game. Use that superior depth to take it to them.
