NBA 2009-2010: More ref complaints

Re: NBA 2009-2010: More ref complaints

Nothing like relying on Delta to get you home on time to watch the game. I'm hoping the Celtics aren't flying them out to LA. They might make it in time for game 7 if they left this morning (their luggage is another matter)

Anyway....

The refs have been pretty evenly atrocious for both sides, so I give them credit for that. Every stupid call on the Celtics has pretty much been offset by a stupid call on the Lakers. They also seem to have no problems calling fouls on Bryant. Its probably his teammates asking them to so he'll get off their case.

As far as Gasol goes, he's doing a better job with Garnett than last time but he can't outmuscle Davis and he's afraid of Wallace. He also has the same problem the whole team does, including Kobe, which is they don't do anything if they don't have the ball. I rarely see any help defense, nor do they track down long rebounds or fill passing lanes. Bynam or Gasol may defend their man okay, but how is it that 6 foot guards get uncontested layups regularly or hit shots in the paint? Or 6-1 Rondo outleaping Bryant for a crucial tip-in (don't remember stuff like that happening to Jordan too often).

I'm not thrilled going back to LA for two and can see the refs forcing a game 7. However, the matchups still favor the Celtics. I don't think the Lakers best game can beat the Celtics best game, and we have yet to see the C's put on a performance like they did in some of those Cleveland and Orlando games. The Lakers are down to 5 guys now. The Celtics bench is 9 deep. In Game 6, with one days rest, run those guys off the court. They can't afford to get into foul trouble and they can't all play 45 minutes a game. Use that superior depth to take it to them.

Re: NBA 2009-2010: More ref complaints

Given that I saw on the news this morning and read on Boston.com that the city of Boston is already prepping for a celebration, I want to congratulate the Lakers on their back to back championships. Why on EARTH are they reporting on that????? JFC. You know this series is going seven games now. Remember when they showed a photo of the 2003 World Series logo at Fenway during the Yankees series? Have people learned nothing??? I guess I don't even have to watch tonight.

Did they learn NOTHING from this year's Stanley Cup Finals? The city of Chicago had the parade route/celebration planned (and announced) before game 6 and look what happened to the Blackhawks! ;)

Re: NBA 2009-2010: More ref complaints

Don't interrupt a good freak out. Besides, Boston needs a riot prevention plan for all of those idiot Northeastern students looking to burn down the city as soon as a local sports team wins something (except for their own school of course, which hasn't won anything since...since....help me out here  ). :p

Re: NBA 2009-2010: More ref complaints

Tom Izzo will announce that he's turning down the Cavs job at an 8:30 presser.

Re: NBA 2009-2010: More ref complaints

Glad to see they solved that end-of-quarter abomination.

Perkins looks done. Kobe on fire. Pierce turning the ball over repeatedly. Not good so far.

Re: NBA 2009-2010: More ref complaints

No defense no offense. Doc Rivers has been secretly replaced by Tim Army.

Re: NBA 2009-2010: More ref complaints

I hope they actually show up for Game Seven. They aren't showing for Game Six.

The announcers should just wear Kobe jerseys. And the C's should just forfeit this game... although they are kind of forfeiting right now.

Re: NBA 2009-2010: More ref complaints

Jon, did you leave something in Europe? Would you like to go back now and get it, now?!?

Hey, they won game 5. I'm not that much of a jinx.

I hope Mark Jackson and Stan Van Gundy are replaced by Doug Woog and Bob Norton. I want to hear all about Kobe's prep school and Doc River's exciting jackets.
Could some one please point out how awful the Celtics are playing? It's plainly evident.
