I would assume Butcher would be back soon, considering he played ND weekend with the broken finger.

Hopefully. But he can't replace Olver's offense. None of the freshman can either.

Oh, so Tell-Me (1-800-555-TELL) doesn't provide college hockey scores anymore, and with the Verizon merger with Alltel, Alltel Alerts do not send NMU scores via txt anymore.

I don't have a blackberry or internet access on my phone, so is there anywhere I can sign up or text to to get a score reply?

I thought about signing up for Twitter to get Dave Danis' updates, but I don't need all the other text he tweets; and there are times where Dave does get busy and does not have the time to post a score update.

Northern may be missing a few guys but i bet Stewart plays amazing. I feel like it will be 2008 playoffs all over again for him.

Not having our leading scorer hurt.

Very strong effort by Stewie. He deserved a better fate.

There was very little to be ashamed of out of that game, save the Nugent CFB. I expected a low-scoring defensive game and I got a low-scoring defensive game. Neither team gave up, even NMU once they went down. Tomorrow will be a great game.

Stewie and the defense kept us in the game for the most part. It was one bad breakout pass from the D that set up the beautiful 2 on 1 goal for Tropp. Northern really controlled the first period outshooting MSU 11-7. NMU could only get one shot off in the 2nd, and a handful more in the third. Penalties really killed any momentum for this team tonight. Just wish it could have been less one sided on that stat.

On the upside, our PK stats improved...


Butcher had a rough night at the faceoffs, someone want to break his finger again?

In contrast, you might've noticed one of a few reasons MSU's better. Did anyone catch Forfar's faceoff win % last night?

It really says a lot that Comley wanted him to take that last big draw at the end there. He is gonna be a good weapon for the next hopefully 3 and a half years.


It's also a relief to finally have the other teams pulling those checking from behind penalties.

We'll probably get one tonight now that it has been said.

Id call it more a bump from behind. I didnt think it warranted a 5, but at least the refs gave him a GM instead of a DQ.

A few less of the tacky holding the stick and obstructions would be nice tonight, you arent Shegos.

We've been on the receiving end of both deserved and very sketchy checking from behinds. We have also drastically cut down on penalties but the strange thing is is that once the checking from behinds and numerous penalties stopped, we stopped winning.

Our slump had much more to do with our powerplay going cold but it's still an odd coincidence.

Also, i hope you guys look like *** tonight.

While I can't speak for Dave, the view from the MacInnes press box is actually pretty good. Overhanging the ice allows you to really see plays develop and it "slows" the game down compared to sitting rink side or on the end.

Hometown bias aside, I've been to about about 60 different midsize arenas across the country and MTU offers one of the best views anywhere. That goes for both the stands and the press box.
