Dan O'Bannon was the guy behind Alien. Scott was just a hood ornament. So, again, just like Lucas.

During the first SW trilogy, Lucas's scripts went through so many rewrites that the movies produced looked very dissimilar to the movies he had originally penned. The only time that wasn't the case was with ROTJ, and most will agree that it was the weakest of the trilogy.

Lucas was great on certain concepts and big ideas, but he doesn't seem to realize that he needs help with the details.

It's not the week of Thanksgiving?

Sure...but that doesnt make the random posting of that specific scene any less random. I wasnt insulting it just saying it was random.

Rocketman:
Elton John biopic.
Fun at times, dark at times. The casting was EXCELLENT. The presentation was certainly different. From what I know, and checking on imdb, this movie shows his faults as well as his difficult private life. Everyone compared it to Bohemian Rhapsody, so I might as well join the crowd:

I think this was a bit more irreverent, which of course fits John's career style. He was SO over the top, much more than Mercury, and that's saying something. I love how over the course of the movie, current Elton is deconstructed back to just a regular guy, by discarding parts of his costume. Very well done. I do recommend this movie.

The Irishman:

About Frank Sheeran and his alleged role in the Hoffa disappearance.

This is a Scorcese epic, for sure. All star cast. The acting was great, I have a nitpick with the digital de-aging of the actors, sometimes it looked too artificial, but that is just looking for a fault. Those who are familiar with mafia movies will pick up on the code speak INSTANTLY. Those who are not, it may take little bit. Goodfellas laid it out for you. They don't explain it as much in this one (the obvious example is "I heard you paint houses").

3.5 hours long, meticulous, and worth it. Highly recommend. De Niro/Pacino are the big 'uns, but Pesci is a real diamond in the rough here.

My only question is, is it "Holy sh*t, those three and a half hours breezed by!" or "Holy sh*t, those three and a half hours dragged by!"

Depends on how you like your movies paced. It's not 3.5 hours just to be 3.5 hours. It's a FULL 3.5 hours, but it doesn't waste a moment; it's just very slow-paced. At the end of the movie, you feel it really was that long of a movie, but you are satisfied.

And forgot to mention: you won't be disappointed in Pacino's rants. There are quite a few of them throughout the movie. Classic Pacino rants. :D

Learned of painting houses on season one of Sneaky Pete

It's similar to the cartel-speak:
"There's an issue with the shirts."
"What's the issue?"
"They weren't 100% starched."
"Ok, we'll take care of that issue."

;)

The Irishman is ****ing great!!!

Two points of contention:
1. That Joe Gallo story is bs. I suspect Chuck Brandt encouraged embellishment from Frank. No way FS was involved.
2. That whole mafia killed Kennedy is also bull****. I wish more people would speak up when obvious propaganda is passed off as truth.

Other than that, which i blame chuck Brandt for, the movie is fantastic.

DeNiro’s best work since Casino. Pesci is a diamond and Pacino is his usual greatness.

The Team That Changed The World:

Documentary about the Harlem Globetrotters. It could've had a little more depth, but a quality 60 minute doc. This is older, 2005, dunno how I missed it the first time around. To this day, many people don't realize how GOOD you have to be at the fundamentals of bouncyball to realize how good the 'Trotters really are. To get on that team, you don't only have to be GREAT you ALSO have to be a showman. I digress, and will state that the boundaries that this team broke down, is really impressive.

And the mafia/JFK connection is plausible, IMO. I'm not convinced either way.

Knives Out. Solid A. Funny and well done. A throwback movie -- intelligent plot, good writing, and geared to adults instead of 20-somethings. Could have been done in the 1950s.
