MN Golden Gopher 2010 Offseason Thread

Re: MN Golden Gopher 2010 Offseason Thread

And Juneau....WI. Too bad the BADgers embarrassed themselves in a couple games last year against the rodents. Those games were probabaly the highlights of your season.

While I always enjoy seeing the Badgers heading for the dressing room with their tails between their legs, I don't see that as some sort of measuring stick of the season for Minnesota. A highlight in my book is winning one or more of the three banners available each season. They won zero and therefore I didn't find any highlights last season. Beating the Gophers on the other hand, does seem to be the gold standard of success for a large number of programs out there.

No, not really. My personal favorite game was beating UND 5-1 @ Mariucci. I do not want them catching us in the season series. Wisconsin is behind something like 84-151 in the season series against the Gophers. My personal favorite game for the Badgers this year was watching them get smoked in the national title game.

Re: MN Golden Gopher 2010 Offseason Thread

There were rare moments. For the most part it was painful to be in chat on GPL and announce yet another puck sailing over the crossbar or missing right or left by 3 feet or so. :(

Oh come now, we had fun in chat...we just stopped paying attention to the games ;)

I don't know if you've had a chance to look at UND's roster for this year but the chances of the goofs winning one game against UND are near impossible, and yes I am willing to wager on it.

I am done arguing with Scooby over it so yes I am :)

Softball team had 7. 7. Academic All-Americans (most in the Big 10). Men's Basketball is riddled with court cases and gangsters. Men's Football can't win. And Men's Hockey is in a nosedive.

Maturi is a clown.

So, Minnesota has another chance of winning a "Miracle on ice." SWEET.

What a clown. What do you do for an encore?

Last season's piece of **** team managed to do it, and that was the worst Gopher team since '98-'99.

All the bottles have been passed out and the children are ready.for bed, stop crying and go to sleep.

I heard hakstool is trying to get the woman-beater to transfer from UMD. So, at least, you know then your team can beat someone. You guys couldn't even win the big one with god on your roster, so go back where it's flat and smells like rotting sugar beets, and do something useful, like trying to come up with a new nickname. Try something not so racist this time, OK?

Re: MN Golden Gopher 2010 Offseason Thread

where does gophers fans see Ambroz fitting in the lineup next year as a 17 years old freshman ? is he going to get quality ice time ? is it too earlier for him to make the jump to the WCHA. not a lot of 17yo can play at that level

for those interested i did a little compilation of Ambroz from his days with the Omaha Lancers of the ushl. (not easy to find ushl highlight so thats the best i could come up with :) )

There was a post today on GPL that Ambroz is going back to the USHL for another year.

That's an interesting development and I seriously hope it's not true. There's no question from interviews I've read that Seth Ambroz anticipated playing for the Gophers this season. He played alongside Eric Haula and his regular season stats were impressive at 22-27-49, plus 24. He's excellent on the power play too with 11 pp goals for the Lancers last season.

Q: How excited are you to be headed home next year to play for the Gophers?

A: I’m really looking forward to it because I grew up watching them play. When there was a chance to become a Gopher, I took it. It’s just another stepping stone with a lot of bigger, stronger players. You have to earn your stripes and adapt; you just get used to the style of play as the season goes on. McKeen's: In terms of major juniors, you were selected by the Seattle Thunderbirds. (Pauses) I'll say when you are drafted by an NHL team in 2011, there will probably be some discussion with you about major juniors as a possibility. Would you at all consider it?

Ambroz: I want to play for "The U." I've committed to the team, and a commitment is a big deal. Once you've committed to a team, you've got to (pauses), it's basically a promise. It's your word and you've got to honor it. If you've committed to a team, that's your team. Retrieved from http://mckeenshockey.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1027797

Re: MN Golden Gopher 2010 Offseason Thread

The post on GPL about Ambroz has not confirmed where he will be. I guess there is a little wiggle on it.

Re: MN Golden Gopher 2010 Offseason Thread

I hope it isn't true as well. I was looking forward to seeing him. I would be nice to see a big body that actually contributes in the #27 again. Sorry, Schack.
