Re: MN Golden Gopher 2010 Offseason Thread

You are a great example of a UM fan as opposed to a UM graduate.

an organization, establishment, foundation, society, or the like, devoted to the promotion of a particular cause or program, esp. one of a public, educational, or charitable character: This college is the best institution of its kind.

"Oh the irony", keep that forklift moving.

Brilliant, you can use a dictionary. Now look up the word "instituition" son.

Re: MN Golden Gopher 2010 Offseason Thread

The gophs better get something going next year. I dug out some old tapes from the Potulny years just to feel some of the old hate. Just can't get it up anymore.

Re: MN Golden Gopher 2010 Offseason Thread

It gets worse. I caught her emailing Happy.

That was your wife? I thought it was Patrick Kane emailing me, and wanting to bring the Stanley Cup over and party in my backyard. Tell her to send a better picture, too.

Possible. My wife does look a lot like Patrick Kane--with Duncan Keith's smile.

Re: MN Golden Gopher 2010 Offseason Thread

There was a news story on WCCO on Jackie Bischoff, wife of former Gopher Grant Bischoff. They are wonderful people and I am sure would welcome your thoughts or prayers.

http://wcco.com/local/mom.cancer.fight.2.1742716.html

They have a Caring pages website listed in the article, if anyone wants to read more or drop a note of encouragement.

I read the article and this is very sad as the stage at diagnosis is the most powerful predictor of survival. I lost a very close friend and colleague diagnosed with stage IV a couple years back. Funny thing was she was also an exercise fanatic and ate very healthy foods. It came as quite a shock.

I'll pray for a miracle for Jackie. Thanks for the post Koho.

Research shows that the gophers suck during the offseason, too.

Except for all those ones when they were the National Champions, and all those when they had the Broadmoor Trophy, and those when they had the MacNaughton Cup, and those when they also had the Hobey, and then throw in a few when they had a bunch of Gold Medal guys, too. Skeeterman, you don't have any offseason cred, so why even bother?

It's no bother.

Re: MN Golden Gopher 2010 Offseason Thread

According to Hammy and others, Seth Ambroz may be heading back to Omaha. No one seems to know why and on whose recommendation.

IMO, I don't understand what benefit going back to the USHL will have over the growth potential at a higher level of play in the WCHA. Granted he's young (17), but he's already spent two years in a much lower caliber level hockey league and proven his game. There's no doubt with his intensity, size, scoring ability, and gritty style he would make some immediate impact in the WCHA and continue to improve in years to come.

Omaha has already lost three of their top scorers: Matt White-USHL junior player of the year (UNO), Dakota Eveland (CC) and Eric Haula. "IF" Seth Ambroz is going back to the USHL to "dominate" and look good for the NHL draft, he may be in for a rough ride. Omaha could struggle next season.

Never a good sign. Whose next in line...anyone know?

Next in line?

The conventional wisdom is the Gophers will not replace Ambroz for this season but just go with who they already have. They were running thick coming into this year anyway. This may open up icetime for some others who were looking at close to zero is all.
