MLB 2024: robot umps, please

He matched the all-time record with guys named Pinky Higgins, Walt Dropo, and Johnny Kling. (1938, 1952, 1902)

Few things are more enjoyable in sports than your baseball team going on a hot streak. Football you have to wait a week for the next game, hockey and basketball you're waiting two or three days, but baseball you get to come back tomorrow to ride the wave.

I haven't watched an Allstar game since 1999 but I caught a few of the highlights from last night and I thought those uniforms were hideous.

Manfred said there will be conversations about returning to players wearing their own jerseys. If they’re going to make everyone wear the same uniform, at the very least they could match the host team colors in the design like they did when the jerseys were just used for the home run derby. But ever since they went to the same uniform for everyone it’s been random colors. Colorado had blue and red (though that might’ve been because the Braves were supposed to host), LA had gold and grey, Seattle actually used the colors, and then this year I couldn’t tell if they were supposed to be pink or orange depending on the camera for the AL, and then they had aqua for the NL.

Go darks for one team and whites for the other. Allow for some minor changes as well (off-white for Twins) etc.

Make it look like a t-ball game with everyone wearing random shit.

The Tigers had that before the leagues went to 15 each. All the close NL teams had other teams with more natural counterparts so they went between the Rockies and Diamondbacks as a "rival."

Seattle's only rival is the Yankees, and the Yankees don't care about us.

It may become San Francisco with the A's going to Las Vegas and becoming the rival of the Diamondbacks.

That would be better, since for the Giants we're only like... 4th? (Dodgers, Cardinals, I dunno maybe the Cubs?).

The Blue Jays are starting to get there with half of BC showing up in Seattle every time they play.

The Angels because of that brawl a couple years ago.

The Astros because everyone hates the Astros.

San Diego and Seattle reminds me of UAA and Mankato from the old WCHA. Classic “you’re the only two left so you’re rivals” rivalry.

White Sox are back on their way towards infamy. After dropping their 11th straight today they're at a .257 winning percentage, which puts them on pace for 41 wins, the lowest in the AL during the 162-game era.
