Red Sox fans are (confident, nervous, scared poopless, awaiting the inevitable).

Pick one.

Scared poopless.

Here's the thing. This team lost 93 games last year. They were picked dead last in the AL East this year. Whatever happens in the World Series is beyond gravy at this point. It would be awesome to win but I don't have a problem with them losing a good series.

You're younger than me. I went through that in 1967. Was upset in 1975 and devastated in 1986.

BTW, on the 1967 clinching day, (we lived in NJ), we had the radio on listening to the Detroit - California twinbill after the Sox - Twins game. After the DP that eliminated the Tigers, my parents were dancing around the kitchen shouting, "We won the pennant! We won the pennant!" My sister, who was 8 at the time, said "What's a pennant?"

1986 broke my heart. My grandfather, a lifelong Red Sox fan who was at the 1912 World Series, warned me that cheering for the Red Sox was a losing proposition. He passed in 1994, my grandmother in May 2004, mere months before the Sox broke that dreaded curse. But yeah, fans my age have been through the highs and lows with this team. If the team loses even in a game in the World Series, it will be something new for 20-somethings and younger.

It'd be nice if the Sox won though. It's been over 28 months since our last parade.

Watching this press conference again, Don Mattingly is trying to get himself fired.

“Indeed, if you spent one tiny fraction of what you spend on your baseball-worship on learning what the Bible actually says, & teaching it to your children, this would be a blessed righteous nation”

Maybe instead of protesting, they should go home and study the Bible.

Mumbles Menino is "rooting hahd that the Red Sox can bring back the World Series cup."

I'm going to miss this guy.

Would be very fitting if they ended up next to Jimmy Hoffa.
My Dad and I always thought that Jimmy was in the concrete footings of Giants Stadium. When they tore it down, I was disappointed that they did not find a 55 gal oil drum stuffed with Jimmy.

Happy First Day of the World Series!

Well, "happy" is maybe not the right term for everyone. ;)
