MLB 2013 - This Bud's for you!

Re: MLB 2013 - This Bud's for you!

With all the emphasis on player safety these days, allowing the catcher to block the plate is a play they should consider banning. Home plate collisions are concussions (or broken bones) waiting to happen. Catching is tough enough without this play.

Re: MLB 2013 - This Bud's for you!

I didn't have a problem with either collision that I've seen tonight. We're playing for blood here, and a chance to go to the World Series.

I don't think either play was dirty or even outside the rules. I just think that the play shouldn't be allowed.

Me neither. The first one Miggy just ran into the glove for the most part. The second one was a collision that's happened countless times already. It wasn't dirty, it was just a hit.

How is that not umpire interference?

The MLB rulebook states umpire interference can only be called if an umpire interferes with a catcher attempting to make a throw, or if a batted ball hits an umpire in fair territory. They probably never thought of adding a clause of an umpire getting in the way on a tag because they didn't think an umpire would set up camp 18 inches off the bag.

Re: MLB 2013 - This Bud's for you!

So since there will be a Game 6, what time will it be? I've seen 4:30 in a couple of places but that was because the LA-STL game is at 8. But that series could end Friday. If that happens, will this game be at 8pm? I'm going to the BU game with family but my dad has tickets and my brother wants to go but he's supposed to come with me to the game. Such problems I have.
8:00. Now I feel really dumb for saying otherwise.

Re: MLB 2013 - This Bud's for you!

WOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Data to come.

9-0 and 13-2 in hits leaves little room for controversy. Interesting low scoring well pitched series for 5 games though. Probably will e playing Boston-and that will not be easy by any means especially at Fenway. But this is a very young StL team with a ton of young arms and they may be back a couple of times. I would imagine they go Wainwright and then Wacha to open the WS.

Will be interested to see how the odds stack up once the AL winner is known. I would think Boston and Detroit both favored but with Boston having a more decided edge. The home field advantage, IMHO, is far greater for an AL team due to the use of DH in their home park. The StL bench is just not a DH type of team-unless Craig is available full time and is close to 100%. Over the years both Stl/Boston and StL/Detroit have made for some memorable moments. I was fortunate enough to see Lonborg against StL in 1967 live for 1 game. Would hate for the WS to be one sided in either direction-the excitement of a game seven just makes it more worth it. Almost(but nothing really compares) like a game seven for the Stanley Cup.

Doc, by the above numbers, Boston would have a 54-46 edge if they advance, and STL would have a 56-44 advantage should the Tigers be their opponent.

The Boston number I can understand. The Detroit number-I still feel their pitching and their home field advantage should count for a bit more. I really like this Cardinal team balance-but they played something like 20 rookies this year and most of their current pitching staff is almost too young to shave. I would make detroit(if they somehow win the next 2 games) a slight favorite. Love the stats you post.

Bear in mind Detroit's # would change if they were to defeat Boston twice.

Figured as much-I would expect it to climb quite a bit. If the WS started in StL I would probably make thejm a slight favorite but only because I am expecting a 6 or 7 game series.

For the second time running in a Conclave year, it's a Cardinals-Red Sox World Series. Because God loves baseball.

Re: MLB 2013 - This Bud's for you!

It is a rematch of 2004. Dear God, please let it go better than last time.
