It is a rematch of 2004. Dear God, please let it go better than last time.

Well, at least the storyline in this World Series won't be old school vs. new school. It'll be which city is more racist.

Re: MLB 2013 - This Bud's for you!

Gonna attempt to get a single ticket to one of the games in St Louis via secondary market. If I can find one for under $250 I'll do it. Seeing a World Series game with my team is on my Sports Bucket List.

Would rather see one in Fenway but I'll be working.

Unless you want to mortgage your house, you aren't getting a ticket to Fenway. Game 1, SRO seats way up above 1st and 3rd bases start at $450. Bleachers start at over $500. Front row bleachers start at $900. Box seats behind home plate for sale for only $16,500 each. And that's just for game one.

I know. Seeing ALDS Game 1 for $40 was fine. I won't be able to afford Fenway WS tickets. I predict Games 6 and 7, if they make it that far, going for $1500 just to get in. There hasn't been a World Series won IN Boston in....100 years?

Normally I'd want Boston to lose but I went to High School with Brian Butterfield so go Red Sox

Re: MLB 2013 - This Bud's for you!

Since the Snow Bowl in 2002, Boston has enjoyed a Golden Era for sports. It has been in the final four of the various professional sports leagues 18 times out of a possible 51 (35.3%). The Patriots seven times, Red Sox five times, Celtics four times and the Bruins twice. In that time Boston has won three Super Bowls, two World Series, an NBA title and a Stanley Cup. If the Red Sox win this year, it will give Boston eight titles since 2002, or 15.7% of championships in the four major sports.

Has any other city ever enjoyed this sort of run in the four major sports? New York City might be the closest. Between 1969 and 1986 they won 12 championships, 20 conference titles and had 32 appearances in the conference finals. Of course, that's also with two baseball, two football and two hockey teams and is over an 18 year period. Still, that is one out of every six championships the city won. An impressive streak.

boston would have bettered 15.7% when the celtics won forever in a row (outside of 67) and hell, extend out to the final c's of the early 70s when the b's had their two titles.

so that's probably what? 15yrs??

From 1957-1972 the Celtics won 11 titles and were in the final four 13 times. The Bruins won two Stanley Cups, lost in the finals twice and conference finals once. Unfortunately the Red Sox were in the World Series only once and the Patriots the AFL Championship once - both losses. Over 16 seasons they won 13/61 possible titles which is 21.3%. With no World Series wins and no football championships, you can't really say it was four-sport dominance though.

My expectations for the WC are that it will be:
@Rangers over Rays, and then Rangers over @Indians.
Reds over @Pirates.

Followed by:
Cardinals over Reds
Braves over Dodgers
Red Sox over Rangers
A's over Tigers

Followed by:
Red Sox over A's
Cardinals over Braves

Followed by:
Earth exploding.

Got parts of it wrong, but got the end result correct.

Re: MLB 2013 - This Bud's for you!

The beauty of the current situation is that -- at least until this coming year's Celtics -- all four franchises are good to excellent. When the Celtics were on their run, one or more of the other franchises was mediocre or awful.

The Celtics are done and the Patriots are near the end of their run, too. Maybe one or two more in them. The Bruins have a bunch of young talent with long-term contracts and already tons of post-season experience. The Red Sox have the ability to contend every year so at least those two franchises will continue the trend into the future.

the title % was higher.
you're welcome :p

The NBA was a lot smaller, the NHL had six team most of those years, so finishing fourth meant you were in the "final four" so it's hardly the accomplishment it is now, with 122 major sports franchises.
