Well, the Pirates will have to play an extra game to get into the NLDS regardless. The best they can do in the division now is force Game 163.

I'm not defending what Gomez did, because he shouldn't have done it... but he has a personal issue with Maholm, specifically. He doesn't generally watch his home runs (actually, he usually sprints immediately around the bases).

Gomez took four s-t-e-p-s then ran. Ahole move but the issue was freeman then McCann blocking his baseline
McCann should have been gone. That's bs

Reed Johnson should have been tossed, too. He probably threw the most punches.

I am not a Yankee fan, but that was nice to see in last nights game for Mo. What a classy individual! I thought having Pettite and Jeter come out to make the pitching change was brilliant. An emotional scene. Best of luck to a great person and the best closer ever!

Question for you all. The Red Sox just clinched the best record in the AL with Oakland losing today. They tweeted that game 1 will be at Fenway against the Wild Card champion. What if Tampa Bay is the Wild Card champion? I thought you couldn't play against a team in your division?

When MLB went to 5 teams in the playoffs, that went away. The Sox get the Wild Card winner, who I hope is Cleveland. Terry & the ex Sox coming back to Fenway will make a VERY interesting ALDS.

Rule probably changed when second WC was added.

I'm hoping for a three way tie for the WC. The WC winner could have played as many as three games by the time they get to Fenway.

And speaking of ex-Sox, that's half of the Oakland starting lineup, three of who came up through the farm system.

Your attention please: Henderson Alvarez has a NO-HITTER through 7 innings. That's right, a NO-HITTER. He has NOT ALLOWED A HIT ALL GAME. That's called a NO-HITTER.

Pitched 9 innings without a hit, but score was still 0-0. Winning run for the Marlins scores on a wild pitch. Most anticlimactic no-hitter ever.

Plus there should really be an asterisk because he was pretty much playing the Mud Hens. Though as we saw it created an even playing field so maybe not.
