MLB 2013 - This Bud's for you!

Is Ortiz the only one appealing a mass-suspension? Nope....that's A-Rod.

Has Ortiz even been suspected of doping?
I don't think he has been.

Edit. Just saw he was on the 2003 list, so there is that, but I can't find anything since.
Doesn't mean he is "clean" per se, but he is cleaner than Rodriguez.

Did Ortiz rat out other players, including a teammate, in hopes his own crimes would appear less than they are? And it isn't like he did it because the government or MLB offered him a better deal, or he did it for "the greater good" he seems to have done it out of spite. Others players and plenty of fans were willing to look the other way when he was "only" accused of PED usage. Ratting out other players is something that many players aren't going to forgive. I hope he feels the money is worth it, because he's not likely to have many friends in the game after this. And can you even imagine if the Yankees wanted to bring him back for old-timers days in the future? Something tells me his invite will get lost in the mail.

I didn't say he was perfectly clean now did I.
All I'm saying is, other than 2003, has he been implicated in anything?
At this point, you could argue that maybe all the big stars should be considered suspicious, but Ortiz hasn't been caught or suspended.

That would make more sense if it was only Boston fans booing him. No one likes him.

If Lackey, or another pitcher, plunked A-Rat and he charged the mound would any Yankees take the field in his defense?

So when he failed a test in 2003 he wasn't caught?

I said outside of 2003 in the very first line of that post.
Good God, pay attention.
1. Has he ever been suspended?
2. Outside of the initial testing in 2003 for which there was no penalty for when he tested positive, has he been linked to performance enhancing drugs?
The answer to both of those is no, is it not?
Therefore, in terms of the testing policy as it exists, he is "clean"
You are criticizing Red Sox fans for cheering Ortiz and booing Rodriguez.
One has never been linked to PED's after it became a suspendable offense and one is facing the longest non-lifetime suspension in baseball history.
Can you really not see the difference?

Only thing missing was Dempster standing on the mound screaming "ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?"

I hate to say it, but I agree with Girardi. Dempster should have been tossed. But I can just hear the umpire saying, "Hey, it's open season on the creep."

Re: MLB 2013 - This Bud's for you!

I hope every pitcher that faces AFraud hits him on his first AB. Just to send a message.

Re: MLB 2013 - This Bud's for you!

John Kruk calls Dempster's actions a disgrace. Uh, no John, the disgrace is the 1200 pound gorilla in the league you and most of your brethren in the media are too naive and/or gutless to address. Since the league does the bare minimum and the union is as useful as a case of cancer, the players starting to police it themselves is more than welcome to me.

And yes, Dempster should have been tossed since it was so obvious and took multiple attempts, but I still have no problem with what he did.

Miguel Tejada gets 105 games for...Adderall.

Not a surprise. An amphetamine that's very easy to obtain. It's all over sports despite being banned by nearly every one of them. Pete Carroll and his merry band of dopers says hi.

Re: MLB 2013 - This Bud's for you!

I'm not a Yankees apologist, but the umps really should've let CC dot one the BoSox and then warn the teams. They're just letting this ferment for a couple weeks. Really don't think Girardi should've gotten run either.

Its a shame he didn't have better control, his aim was a little low.
