MLB 2011 Post-Season: Who misses the NBA?

Re: MLB 2011 Post-Season: Who misses the NBA?

I'm not sure how I feel about this, but apparently beating the Phillies in the playoffs means winning the World Series.

Re: MLB 2011 Post-Season: Who misses the NBA?

Congrats to the Cards, they pulled it all together and won when it mattered. Crazy to think Nick Punto is a World Series winner.

Re: MLB 2011 Post-Season: Who misses the NBA?

What does "never been anywhere close to his father" even mean? It was a tribute to him. Your point about him being an automoton is a completely different argument.

It means he had no business using the line. A tribute? Not only was it a ripoff (I might have pardoned him if he credited his father) but he already used nearly the same exact line once before.

Re: MLB 2011 Post-Season: Who misses the NBA?

Exciting World Series to end the season-Cardinals just got on a roll and were the hottest team in September and October. Not the best team for 5 months but put it together when it mattered most. Now-it's hockey time!!!

Re: MLB 2011 Post-Season: Who misses the NBA?

It makes me immensely happy to see Little Nicky Punto get a ring.

It was exactly what I expected from Joe Buck.

Re: MLB 2011 Post-Season: Who misses the NBA?

I didn't comment on this earlier, but I just wanted to say that Joe Buck should be strung up by the testicles and beaten like a pinata with a 9-iron. What a talentless *******.

Bring on the hot stove...

CC will remain a Yankee
Derek Lowe traded to the Indians
<a href="http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-1102-dodgers-sale-20111102,0,4790881.story">Frank McCourt agrees to sell Dodgers</a>... and there was much rejoicing

Free agent frenzy starts at 12:01 am tonight.

Before the Cards won the Series, I thought Albert would stay because I just can't imagine him anywhere else. But I think the Series may have been his swan song and he'll go.

Albert's decision may not simply depend on dollars. Let's face it, he will be a very wealthy man no matter where he plays. He will command 20-25+ million per year for as many years as a team will grant him (probably between 5-8 years). His decision may depend more on where he will be looked upon in the most positive light. If he stays in St louis he will probably be treated as a diety. If he signs most other places he will be looked at as being the possible savior-which he may or may not ever be able to achieve. If it does turn out to be based on pure money-he is gone-and will sign somewhere else. If he is at all worried about his baseball legacy-he will take a bit less and stay in Cardinal land. He is 31 (perhaps an old 31) and there is no one who can predict whther he can maintain his statistic and for how many years. Anyone who signs him for longer than a couple years is taking a very large gamble.

Darren Rovell estimates that any money Pujols "loses" by signing with the Cardinals will be made back and then some because he would be a career Cardinal in that city. He will have endorsement and business opportunities beyond what he would get in dollars from a contract to play baseball.

Re: MLB 2011 Post-Season: Who misses the NBA?

Cubs just announced that Mike Quade is gone. Wouldn't it be ironic if they hired Francona? :p

I hear Ken Macha is available.
