MLB 2011 Part 1

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

He has the 3rd most wins ever as a Yankee pitcher. I expect there certainly will be an Andy Pettite day this season.

I think he merits consideration for the HOF. 240 Wins, 2 20 win seasons, record 19 post-season wins, 3 All Star appearances. Over 2200 Ks.
Doesn't he have steroids hanging over him? If that's the case he probably won't get in.

No, he took the heroic kind, that help your teammates by healing from an injury faster, as opposed to everyone else who took them because they were greedy slimeballs.

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

Doesn't that make Clemens a hero also? He stuck the needle in Andy's ass.

He was a greedy slimeball who took them. But he says he wasn't, because he didn't want to grow a third ear in his forehead like Pettite did.

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

The Albert Deadline is 7 days away.

I cannot imagine him in any other uniform.

Question for anyone who has purchased MLB.TV in the past:

Blackout restrications. If I understand this correctly, I will not be able to watch any of the Twins games live, correct?

Blackout restrictions are the same for mlb.tv as they are for the Extra Innings package and ESPN broadcasts other than their Sunday Night national broadcast. Essentially, you cannot watch any team that claims your area as a home market.

In other words, living in Iowa, I'm boned since 6 teams claim the state as their home market (Min, Mil, ChC, ChW, StL, KC), which means on any given night, I could be blacked out from watching over a 1/3rd of the schedule. They are, incidently, are also the teams I'd be most likely to want to see.

Absolutely asinine policy based on a decision to protect the team's broadcast partners. Who cares that I can probably only get 1 or 2 of those teams' games on my TV to begin with (when I was in Council Bluffs, it would've been K.C. and occasionally the Cubs or White Sox when they were on WGN). Why MLB doesn't just agree to share the profits with the home broadcasters and lift the blackout is beyond me.

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

Perhaps it isn't worth it then...
I can tell you what your situation specifically would be since I've gotten it the last couple years. You live in Minnesota so you will only be blacked out of Live Twins broadcasts, the Live Fox Saturday afternoon (3 pm) games, and the Live Sunday night ESPN games. The idea being that you could watch those on TV, so no big deal.

You can watch any game regardless of original blackout in replay (90 min after most games, little bit longer for Twins because they are your home team). I might have that wait time wrong. 90 could be Twins and the other teams are 60.

But if you go on a trip, the blackout is based on where you are at, not your billing address. If you go to Houston you could watch the Twins live and be blacked out of Astros games.

Yeah, if I did this, I'd pay the extra 20 to get premium where I'd only have to wait 90 minutes no matter the game. Plus it would be nice to see a game if I miss it at work.

Yeah, I get the premium as well. Plus PS3 lets you run MLB.TV on your TV without having to hook up your computer. Oh and 4 games at once can be nice if you have a decent monitor.

Renewal is March 1st each season. So you can watch games from then till Feb 28/29th as much as you want.

I thought the blackout was based on both your billing address and your current location?

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

It doesn't specifically say your billing address is involved. It only says:

Note MLB.com live game blackouts are determined in part by IP address.

Yep. It doesn't have anything to do with your billing address. It's purely based upon your physical/digital location.
