MLB 2011 Part 1

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

The team is catching a bunch of **** for this, and their reaction to it. From all I've heard it was completely unacceptable how terrible the system works, but I am guessing that it will be changed for next season.
From what I've heard, its exactly the same as the Red Sox system except when I got to the front of the line...it actually worked.

Which one are you saying actually worked? Because the Twins' system didn't for me. When I got to the front of the line I got the popup I was told I would eventually get saying "you're at the front of the line, click to continue to the purchase site" and when I clicked continue nothing happened.

Look, I don't have a problem with the concept of an electronic queue, or with the fact that I might not eventually get tickets (which is obviously not a given for Opening Day for a competitive team in a new stadium). The fact that the throughput of the queue was so pathetic was the problem. I don't mind getting shut out, I mind it taking three hours for that to happen.

The Twins system didn't work, the Red Sox did. Many have complained about having the same problem as you did, there was some major glitch in the system that effed a bunch of people up. The team claimed it worked for most people, but with as much complaining as I've seen/heard, I have my doubts about that.

Yeah, it did seem like it was glitchy. In addition to that, when I entered the queue at 10 my little icon representing where I was in the line was 4th, moved up to 3rd at about 10:30, 2nd at about 11:10 (the indicator representing availability for Opening Day was yellow at this point), 1st at about 11:40, then jumped back to 4th around 11:55, jumped back to 1st at around 12:25, got that popup at around 12:55, the indicator representing availability for Opening Day went red at around 1:15, and that's when I posted my angry message here. And, look, it's not that big a stadium, and lots of the people who made sure to log on right when tickets went on sale were buying for Opening Day, so if it actually took over three hours to sell out that game, then their throughput was crap.

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

I'm stuck in the Twins virtual waiting room right now. I heard a rumor that some standing room tickets were released for opening day, and by the fact that I'm in the virtual waiting room, it looks like it may be true.

It doesn't always work for the Sox (especially for the BU/BC winter game at Fenway). Most people I know have had an issue at one point or another.

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

I got into the ticket purchase area and it said that standing room wasn't available for the home opener. Either they already sold out, or the standing room tickets released today weren't for that game.

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

In any case, my friend and I picked a pair up aftermarket for like $60 each, which I don't think was altogether unreasonable.

I think I'll go that route too. Probably buy standing room and stand in the bar behind home plate, like I have for several games. One positive is that it has a great view of the game, another is that there is a guy that serves booze 3 feet away.

edit: I just got 3 standing room only tickets to the home opener for $45 each, including all of the crappy fees. So that wasn't too bad. I think we have more interest in this than we have tickets, so I'm considering buying 2-3 more, at $50 each. Then I would sell to other hockey fans at no profit, so we can have a big group. Do we think there would be enough interest for me to buy more standing room tickets for the home opener? I'm sure I won't have a problem with using the 3 I have, and if we have extras, I'm sure we can sell for at least what I paid. Thoughts? Anyone?

I'd be in for 1 ticket up to the say $60 limit.

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

I will buy 3 more, so I'll have 6 tickets. Maybe we'll need even more.
Right now I believe these people would be going with my tickets:
Me
State of Hockey
JF_Gopher
MNS (assuming that he would want to go)
Shirtless Guy (assuming that he would want to go)
Brenthoven (assuming that he would want to go)

Others that might be interested:
dx?
Bakunin?
Biddco?

edit: alright, I bought 4 more, it wouldn't let me choose 3, I figure we'll be able to use 7 tickets, especially since jmh already has his

Update on the tickets, we might have even more interest than I thought, which is not surprising. Out of the 7 tickets that I have, I have to give first opportunity for the group of us that regularly hangs out: Brent, MNS, SoH, Shirtless Guy, Sloe Gin. If we all decide to go, which I think is extemely likely, there is one ticket left, and JF already spoke for it right away.

I also got a message from Scarlet that she was trying to buy tickets, and I know that dx was trying to buy tickets (though he maybe already got them), so there are more people that want to go for sure, if someone else wants to go pick up another chunk of tickets. Like I said earlier, there are others that I expect to be interested, but I haven't heard from: Biddco, Bakunin, Dirty, etc.

I have 4 tickets already ready to download, the other 3 are supposed to be delivered sometime before April 2nd. I am hoping that the set of 3 are actually legit, so I get all 7. Since I used Stubhub, I won't get screwed over (other than the ripoff that stubhub always is).

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

Current prices on Stubhub start at $43 for SRO, $54 for reserved seats, if anyone is looking.

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

I just said screw it, and bought 6 more. We may as well have a huge group there and if I have too many I'll be able to find someone to go. Everyone wants to be at this game. Besides, I got my bonus last week, so I have the money to dump into tickets until people pay me on gameday. Also, got a text from Sloe Gin, he wanted tickets also.

Guaranteed Tickets if they want one:
Me
Brenthoven
State of Hockey
MNS
Shirtless Guy
JF Gopher
Sloe Gin
Quiz
Scarlet

That leaves 1 guaranteed ticket available, since three of my tickets haven't been verified by the seller yet. If I get those, like I should, there are 4 available. The posters I mentioned earlier have priority over others, sorry everyone else.

I'll give you money in advance if you have any concerns.

Or if you want 2 wild tix for tonight instead, I think I can still get them for you.

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

If anyone is going to be in NYC on April 8th, plenty of good seats to the Mets' home opener are still available. :o

I'm not worried, probably shouldn't go to the Wild game tonight, I would just get pizzed off at the team, and I don't have a change of clothes with me at work today.

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

I guess I can flip to day mode again for the F4. If you have a spare to offer, I'll buy it.

Ok, you're in also.

The 10 tickets that I have printed out already are spoken for, with me holding tickets for Shirtless Guy, MNS and Brent, in case they are interested. All I have left are the 3 unconfirmed tickets, which I may end up not getting, depending on if the seller on stubhub is a moran or not. (also, my god-mother who has helped my work on my house multiple days and would never accept money said she might interested in those three, if I get them, so I have to give them to her if she wants them)
