Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

Ok, you're in also.

The 10 tickets that I have printed out already are spoken for, with me holding tickets for Shirtless Guy, MNS and Brent, in case they are interested. All I have left are the 3 unconfirmed tickets, which I may end up not getting, depending on if the seller on stubhub is a moran or not. (also, my god-mother who has helped my work on my house multiple days and would never accept money said she might interested in those three, if I get them, so I have to give them to her if she wants them)

I'm in, and if it's easier for you, I can deduct the cost of the ticket from your cost of the hotel.

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

I love unique ballpark food, and found this interesting (it's from the Milwaukee paper, so the prices and sections are at Miller Park) -

The Food Network's Red, White & Blue Steak Sandwich will be served at eight ballparks, including Miller Park. Served on a French demi baguette, it will be topped with Maytag blue cheese and sweet and spicy Peppadew-pepper mayonnaise.

The network's partnership with the stadium vendor Sportservice also calls for a second steak sandwich with local flair to be added to each ballpark's concessions menu. At Miller Park, the sandwich will be doused with a sharp, hoppy beer cheese.

Both new sandwiches will be sold in the Plaza Patio on the field level behind first base and will sell for $9.50.

At a ninth ballpark, Target Field in Minneapolis, fans will enjoy two Food Network takes on a popular sausage already served by Sportservice: a smoked bratwurst with horseradish cream and a wild rice bratwurst with pickled red cabbage and beer mustard.

I'm generally a bratwurst traditionalist, but the Target Field ones sound awesome (WHY WOULD THEY NOT DO THAT IN MILWAUKEE??? we sell more sausages than other parks sell hot dogs!)

Oh those sound glorious.

Another reason for opening day to come sooner! I just hope it gets a little warmer in the next 2 weeks...

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

Update on our Twins ticket situation:

People confirmed going:
Me
Shirtless Guy
Brenthoven
State of Hockey
MNS
Bakunin
Sloe Gin
Quiz
JF_Gopher

People that I haven't gotten a confirmation from, but have tickets if they want 'em:
Scarlet
Almington

2 tickets that are left that I'm holding for now, probably will give them to a close family friend

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

Scarlet already has a ticket from another friend, so I have 1 ticket available, if anyone else wants to go to the Twins home opener.

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

It looks like the Royals are going to win the AL Spring Training title with the Twins and Tigers close behind.

My opening weekend viewing schedule is looking pretty awesome. Not sure how I will focus on work! :)

Thursday:
Stauffer (SD) vs Carpenter (StL) - 4:10
Lincecum (SF) vs Kershaw (LAD) - 8:00

Friday:
Lester (Bos) vs Wilson (Tex) - 4:10
Pavano (Min) vs Romero (Tor) - 7:07
Hernandez (Sea) vs Cahill (Oak) - 10:05

I will have to watch Pelfrey (NYM) vs Johnson (Fla) in replay.

Obviously it's only spring training, but the Royals have to be encouraged by how their young guys (Kila, Butler, Gordon if he still qualifies as a young guy) have been raking.

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

In about 2-3 years the Royals are going to start scaring the living bejabbers out of the rest of the AL, if their farm system continues to develop.

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

Pretty much. It is a "believe it when I see it" thing for me now. They keep having to trade much of their young talent away.

The only player I can think of that has lived up to some hype is Billy Butler and Greinke.

Other than that, history repeats itself for the Royals. At least Cleveland is worse than them now.

Re: MLB 2011 Part 1

Happy Opening day!!! Why is it for the first 2 weeks of the season the home teams aren't warm weather cities and domes? Arizona AT Colorado? Atlanta AT Washington? San Diego AT St Louis...really?

And then tomorrow we have games in Cleveland, Chicago and Toronto. Yes, I know Rogers Centre has a retractable roof, but still. Would it really be that difficult to have the Philadelphia-Houston series in Houston?
