The local (DC) ESPN radio affiliate is taking calls on the hypothetical "Albert Pujols comes to the Washington Nationals." It is one of the funniest exercises in blindly parochial homerism I've ever heard.
Evidently:
1) "Albert cares a lot about causes. Do you think he could have more influence coming to DC, where there's a lot of federal funding available for philanthropy?"
and even better:
2) "St. Louis belongs to Stan Musial. If Pujols ever wants a legacy (actual words used), he should come to DC and be identified as the guy who built the franchise."
The few sane callers who have poured cold water on the idea have been predictably hooted down.
