Re: MLB 2010: Hope Springs Eternal

Is this a pitcher's duel, or mutual lack of interest?

Pitchers duel. This game is a showcase of truly how much the game has changed over the past five years without steroids.

It's a pitcher's game again and there are some VERY good ones in baseball right now.

Look at the homeruns and RBI totals for the leaders in each league. They are WAY down.

15 homers and 40 RBI's is a solid season right now at the AS break. You wouldn't have sniffed the all-star game as a power hitter with those numbers a few years ago unless you got a free pass from being the lone represenative of your team.

Re: MLB 2010: Hope Springs Eternal

I would agree with the assessment that it looked hard to see when batting for the first 4 innings at least with the way the sun/shadows laid across the batters eye in center field.

That would account for some of the inability to hit/score runs.

I thought Rolen was going to be dead to rights running on Hunter.

Heads up play though and now the NL has something cooking.

Next hitter will probably ground into an inning-ending double play though to end the threat.

Re: MLB 2010: Hope Springs Eternal

I think you're underestimating how good each of these pitching staffs are.

Oh, no believe me. Their skill isn't lost on me. I just think it's bad baseball. Between the errors, overrunning the base after a second ball nearly went into the outfield, and the general feel of the game.

I realize the pitchers are incredible this year, but it just hasn't felt like that. Although, the NL staff has made the AL look absolutely foolish on more than one occasion.

Which is why I said it was both, if you reread the post.
