MLB 2010: Hope Springs Eternal

Re: MLB 2010: Hope Springs Eternal

What do folks think of this fantasy trade? Giving A-Rod and Pablo Sandoval to get Chone Figgins, Chase Headley, Miguel Olivo, and David Ortiz. A-Rod and Panda have been decent players for my team this year, but they haven't been completely lights out either, and this would replace their positions with guys with similar decent numbers. Additionally, my C (Bengie Molina) and 2B (Ty Wigginton) haven't been too great, so this allows me to shore up those spots.

Re: MLB 2010: Hope Springs Eternal

WHY THE **** DO WE NEED A CONCERT BEFORE THE HOMERUN DERBY? EXACTLY WHAT DOES THIS ADD TO THE NIGHT?

Who ever came up with this idea needs to be beaten senseless with a tire iron. This is a goddammed debacle and we haven't even thrown the first pitch yet.

Re: MLB 2010: Hope Springs Eternal

It's not their fault Lebron had nothing to announce tonight.

But yeah, this thing is already going to go like at least three hours, right?

Re: MLB 2010: Hope Springs Eternal

I think most of that pre-game/HR derby stuff is for the fans in attendance. Unfortunately they add it to the TV program as well.

Re: MLB 2010: Hope Springs Eternal

I already realize that we're going to be here for 3+ hours and that Chris Berman needs to be thrown from the light towers onto his head at home plate. But why in the holy hell are we watching some limpdick sing in the infield? Just what does that add to baseball? Who the hell do these cockwagons that come up with this **** think they're going to draw to the broadcast?

Re: MLB 2010: Hope Springs Eternal

So beyond that, whos the PtC to hit 30 in a round? :D

I'm rooting for Mr. Cabrera to take about 500 swings tonight.

I've been to the Home Run Derby. They had some other dooshwagon sing some other horse**** then. It was horrid then. It's not any better now. And when you're there, it sounds like he's singing out the back of a Campbell's Soup can, not a microphone.

I like it. While I expect a good second half from A-Rod, Ortiz would make up for it provided they don't need to call up the entire Pawtucket starting lineup due to injuries. :D

The rest is a good haul for Not as Big as Last Year Panda.

Re: MLB 2010: Hope Springs Eternal

Speaking of fantasy baseball - who have been your best finds/biggest busts this year?

I'll start with my 10 team AL only 5x4 auction league
Best draft selection: John Buck $3 - figured he would give me some pop. Even more than I bargained for and a decent BA so far.
Worst draft selection: Milton Bradley $8 - bad batting average, ok homers and steals. Losing time to Smoak, Branyon, and Saunders. If a FA emerges, he could be added.

Outlook: 2nd place - 1 pt out of 1st. Made some key trades to fix my weaknesses. I should finish in the money barring any of my players getting traded out of league.

Don't like it at all. In fact, hate it.

A-Rod will continue to produce and Panda will get going I believe. They both have nice positional value. You're not getting enough and you have to believe Papi's resurgence to make this fair for you.

Couple key 1st year players are carrying me. Was in top 3 (of 16) up until 2 weeks ago. Now I am 5th or 6th. But still expect to make playoffs easy.

Mike Leake
Jason Hayward

Otherwise a early season pick up of Jose Bautista and the trust to pick up Jon Rauch.

Re: MLB 2010: Hope Springs Eternal

Proud of: Martin Prado, Angel Pagan, Colby Lewis.

Ashamed of: Randy Wolf, Asdrubel Cabrera (although it was because of injury), and Jason Kubel.

This is combined from a couple leagues.

Re: MLB 2010: Hope Springs Eternal

I wondered when Hanley Ramirez got to 8 outs if he was going to stop trying.

Re: MLB 2010: Hope Springs Eternal

That Nike commercial with Ken Griffey Jr. is AWESOME. LOVE it.

I'm in two leagues.

One is a H2H mixed league 10 teams:
Best draft selection: Alex Rios in the last round
Best waiver pick-up: By some act of god Vlad Guerrero was out there in early May and snagged him.
Worst draft selection: Johan Santana/Chase Utley

I've managed to trade both..Utley i traded one week before his injury for Prado and Wainright (unfortunately gave up Latos in the deal too otherwise that would be the steal of the century.)

Santana I traded before he went on his streak in his last year starts and got Furcal and Dempster. I'm still happy with it because Furcal has been lights out and I had Alex Gonzalez at shortstop who was doing jacksh**. Dempster has been good too his last two starts.

I just pulled off a great deal right before the all-star break getting both Jamie Garcia and Carlos Quentin for Vernon Wells and Ricky Romero.

I'm in fifth place right now but third place is only 1/2 a game ahead.

NL Only league...9 team rotisserie
Best draft selection: Carlos Gonzalez in the eighth round
Worst draft selection: Derrek Lee in the fourth round
Best Pick-up: Buster Posey, Mike Pelfrey, Jamie Garcia, Jason Hammel, Troy Glaus (before his slump).

Re: MLB 2010: Hope Springs Eternal

It's amazing that we spent a good chunk of the last day discussing the business practices of the Yankees, and this morning Mr. Steinbrenner passes away.

Yeah, I know, we've got comments in the Yankee thread and the "Dead" thread, but this is big enough for all three threads, in my mind.
