MLB 2010: Hope Springs Eternal

Re: MLB 2010: Hope Springs Eternal

I know this isn't a fantasy baseball thread but I can't find it. A Josh Hamilton or Vlad Guerrero for Jared Weaver trade offer came my way. How fast would you reject that offer? I do need pitching, but my hitting is not so much to give up either one of them without getting someone pretty good. Also, my guys are keepers - Weaver cannot be kept.

Guerrero is at the end of his career. Sure he is having a great year, but his body is going to give out eventually. So while I wouldn't make a trade for ANY Weaver. Vlad is the one I would give up if I had to choose.

Any Weaver?

I would have traded Vlad as well. I didn't think I could overcome the losses so I passed. Plus he is at a reasonable salary (19 in a 12 team league).

Re: MLB 2010: Hope Springs Eternal

That was an interesting play in the Reds/Phils game.

FYP.

From the Mariners' side, this is a bad deal. The Twins offer is better, so Seattle is in a position to bleed the Yankees dry. I wouldn't make this move.

Ha...yeah thanks for fixing that. I was typing and they were talking about the Yankees. Clearly he pitches for Seattle, at least right now. :D

And thats a serious deal Minnesota is throwing out there. I wonder if that offer was made before or after they learned of the Yankees deal?

I would think that with the Hicks and Ramos offer on the table, the M's have to take the Twins offer. I don't like losing Hicks...the trade would look a little better if they could get it done for Ramos and Slowey or Moonshot Scott.

I'm sure the Yankee's will come back with enough to make the deal theirs. Even if the Twins offer is better in the long run. Good on Seattle, too. Make 'em pay (they can afford it).

I wish we could get rid of Moonshot or SLOWey, but would you take them right now? I wouldn't, but maybe I'm just too invested in their recent failures ;)

I'd avoid Moonshot, his nickname says it all, but Slowey still has a pretty big upside and still has a very good chance to become a quality pitcher.

Ah yes, the New York Post... Great sports source.

No, the Mariners would not trade with the yankees if their deal is not as good as the twins. That's just silly.

If the yankees can offer up a better trade than hicks and ramos, then yes, lee will go to the yankees.

I think if New York offers up Hughes, the M's would jump on that trade.

Yeah, maybe. I could see that. Plus Buster Olney just reported on the issue and he's buying it too. So while I don't think the NY Post is a bastion of sports information, Buster Olney is.

If the Yankees do pull this off, it's just one more reason to hate them and everything they stand for.

Well, yeah. Are they offering Hughes? That just seems silly, Hughes is at the point that he can go to the mound and pitch just as well as Cliff Lee, I don't see the advantage of getting Lee unless the Yankees can plug him into Vasquez's spot in the rotation.
