Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Could use some rain here in SE Michigan right now. Lot of lawns are turning brown. Why in the hell couldn't it have gotten this dry earlier this year when I was trying to get the hay in this year??

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

4-6 inches of rain in our area last night. I had a river running through the backyard. At least it appears that way with the flattened grass. Plus some spots near the roof joints where the water came down and completely flattened about a 2-3 ft radius of grass. Insanity.

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Mr. wore Black is up in Minnesota right now and he was telling me that it was 105F outside today. He can stay up there and sweat it out at his parent's with no A/C while I sit here in Wisconsin with Central Air in both the house and car.

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Twas foggy at 7AM when I brough the lad to the airport.

Weather Bug (location = MSP) says it's currently 85 and the dewpoint is 78.
At 10AM.
Oy.

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Apparently, the reason why we can get such high dewpoints is because of all the farmland (and corn) to our south. Supposedly, corn releases more water into the atmosphere than other crops.

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

A monster supercell has formed to the SE of Minot and is producing baseball-sized hail, 50-60mph winds, and possibly a tornado. Given the source of the inflow, it should have no problem holding together - and could very well expand / grow into an MCS this afternoon near the red river valley and then move SE across MN.

Well, it could experience some serious atmospheric resistance:

While the CAPE is nearly 3,500, the lifting potential is extremely negative, and the water content of the air is quite high, a CIN value that high can preclude the formation of thunderstorms in many cases.

(This is a predicted sounding for Mpls around 4 pm)

Edit: THe image updated an no longer shows the correct forecast.

'Tis the week for grilling and not cooking in the house.

It was a beautiful day to take in an outdoor baseball game here. 82, sunny, not very humid
