Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

I wasn't expecting storms to show up until tomorrow. Then my phone started flashing and beeping telling me that we're in a tornado watch and severe weather warning. It never ends.

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Holy crap. Look at that bow shape. There's some pretty strong winds to do that.

edit: According to weather underground it's about a 55-60 mph wind near that center.

Line is moving at a brisk clip (55 mph) - looks like the brunt of the wind will be hitting the NW metro - Maple Grove is directly in the path of it.

Wind kicked up here pretty good for a bit, but as quick as it showed up, it was gone.

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

As of 12:37, in Madison, it's 81 with 74 dew point. Please send relief as it appears that no storm will hit Madison like in the Cities. Some rain, but no break in humidity until Sunday.

I'm seriously considering shoving ice packs in my pockets on Sat so I don't pass out during the wedding ceremony.

My brother actually did that during some of his choir concerts at bethel. The robes they wear don't breathe and the lights are insanely hot I guess.

I do have to state the fact that it is not a religious ceremony (read: Roman Catholic or other), so it'll be short, and everyone important (read: parents of the bride/groom) have already said that having a cold rag in hand at the "altar" is okay. But still, with pics/ceremony/more pics outside...Brenthoven's gonna be drinking lots of water and utilizing ice rags as much as possible, especially since the whole shabang is running from about 3-6 or so. Yup, hottest part of the day.

HOLY HELL!!! This light show is incredible. Absolutely brilliant white flashes of lightning. My house is shaking because of the thunder. You can feel it in your chest.

Ditto. I was in CR/Spring Lake Park. Pretty hard wind for about 10 minutes, then it was just hard rain. The real lightning show is right now though. Awesomeness.

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Another day, another flash flood warning for the twin cities.

Looks like a bit of a break right now for the SE metro, but another line is approaching from the west. Nature has a full bladder tonight.

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

I'm getting nothing but rain. These storms pussied out. Nice light show but it's all cloud to cloud which muddles the whole thing.

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Typical weathermen. It rains and we're gonna die. It snows and we're gonna die. It's way too hot and we're gonna die.
Avg # of annual deaths by weather-related cause in the US (from 2000-09):
Heat 162
Hurricane 117
Flooding 65
Tornado 63
Wind 43
Lightning 42
Winter storm 33
Cold 21

MNS - the SE metro got clobbered - probably rained ~2" here, and there was a strong wind gust around 4 a.m. probably in the 50mph range.

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

Uptown got a pretty nice storm last night...the lightning was lighting up my apartment :)

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

The atmosphere managed to recover from the early morning storms - the temperature is climbing through the mid-80s with a mid-70s dewpoint in the twin cities.

At the moment, there's a bad-looking storm pushing through the St. Cloud area and points north - there was a recent report of a 74 mph wind gust with that.

Another severe storm is approaching Hennepin county as well. The western metro will likely be impacted by that around 4:30.

Re: Minnesotans arguing about the weather...

You didn't miss much in the SW Metro. Lightning was good...but other than that...meh.

It was monsoon season yesterday for me. 2pm-7pm. Some flash flooding, at times you couldn't drive at all, etc.

Cleared up real nice at night, had a double rainbow (cue meme joke) and it's almost nice right now.
