Minnesota Women's Hockey Off-Season 2015: #BASK

Re: Minnesota Women's Hockey Off-Season 2015: #BASK

The official numbers don't show an increase over 2013-14, but there are enough asterisks to make a comparison rather meaningless. The average for 23 home games last year is given as 2037, and that includes the two Frozen Four games. Meanwhile, the prior season didn't have a Frozen Four, but it did have the outdoor game, which helped it to an average of 2394. To your point, whatever the official attendance was listed for the game at "The Bank", there were fewer people actually there from what I could see. I hope interest is increasing; the ladies sure deserve it.

As for the question about postseason tickets, the WCHA Final Face-Off has always been a separate ticket apart from the host's season ticket package, but the first round has been included the last few years. That piece must be up to the individual school.

There were also a couple of really bad dates, including a game on Halloween night. I recall someone actually looking at the numbers & saying that if you eliminated the outdoor game and the couple of bad nights the past season attendance was slightly better than the year before.

the Annie Oaklie of hockey

so does anybody know who the Whitecaps are these days?

could be a real interesting game if the roster is similar to 07-12

Re: Minnesota Women's Hockey Off-Season 2015: #BASK

Anybody got any info on the Whitecaps? Their website hasn't been updated for ages. There's no roster or anything. Someone want to share some info on our exhibition opponent.

I did hear a rumor that 2 Lams may be playing in the game
Correct among some well known Gopher Olympians.

Re: Minnesota Women's Hockey Off-Season 2015: #BASK

Also no mention of Tianna Gunderson and Emma May.

Wow! Girls...Go where you are going to get a great education, experience, but also see the ice. Plenty of great opportunities out there that you will find to be a much less stressful experience for the athlete and parents. Good Luck!

I wasn't necessarily concerned by identifying all of them by name. Rather, just the lack of knowledge about the team. From the article...
That was a big reason Frost brought in eight new players, seven freshmen and a transfer...
No, he brought in 9 new players -- seven freshmen and two transfers.

Although given only one of the transfers is eligible to play this season, it could be stated either way. Frost said one reason the roster was expanded was that last year there sometimes weren't enough healthy bodies for an effective practice. From that standpoint, Schammel should be counted. In terms of those who can hit the ice during games, she wouldn't be included, though she should be mentioned in an article where additions is the topic.

Oy. Reading this stuff is giving me an ulcer. I don't know who's going to beat the Gophers this year unless it's BC, and as good as the top two are BC is a clear #2 to this roster.

Bemidji and North Dakota seem to find a way. Wisconsin is definitely overdue to win a game or two as well.

By the end of 2015, BC will be undefeated and ranked No. 1 and you'll be putting together Eagles' midseason highlight videos. Your cupcakes go down easier than WCHA teams do (especially the green ones. :().

The Badgers definitely had more stretches last year where they controlled play versus UM than they did in the previous two. Much as I've enjoyed Bucky's futility stretch in the rivalry, it's bound to end soon. Eventually, the Goph's won't be able to hold the Red Menace to one goal and UW will win.

Probably (caveat being Four Nations vs. BU)
and ranked No. 1
only if UM has two losses which they won't
and you'll be putting together Eagles' midseason highlight videos.
Possibly, because I enjoy BC hockey and hockey is fun and enjoyable.

Gluten free, perhaps?

If BC is undefeated, I will be thrilled with the season but $#!++ing bricks going into the final against UM expecting to lose.

End of calendar year, not end of season. For BC to run the table beyond that, they'll have to improve over six months more than last year.

These teams a) have in part designed their teams targeting Minnesota...they know if they beat Minnesota they will have a successful season or at least get great publicity b) get up for the Gophers...they play the Gophers so often that they aren't nervous but rather motivated.

Other teams may be unprepared for Minnesota, have no idea of play style, and possibly are nervous. In the end, in conference play works out for Minnesota also...as its in conference competition is top notch.

Anyone know if Penn St. streams their home games, or not?

They were part of the same Big 10 package as UW and UM last year. The video was better than Minnesota's, but not as good as Wisconsin's from what I remember.
