Minnesota Women's Hockey Off-Season 2015: #BASK

Re: Minnesota Women's Hockey Off-Season 2015: #BASK

To that end: I noticed that the NHL's outdoor game is planned for the weekend that Wisconsin is in MN for a pair. What are the odds we will have to freeze our fannies off while watching some tiny, distant, dots doing something out there on what is probably a hockey rink this coming winter? My excitement over the prospect is palpable.

That would suck, don't ruin an awesome match-up like that. Of course the marketing folks are giddy over how they can flaunt this epic game being outside. Losers.

Watch a couple of future Gophers HERE at 7:30 Central Time. Lindsay Agnew on the Red team and Amy Potomak on the White team.

AGREED! OSU is one thing but Wisconsin/Minnesota should take place under the best conditions not the whatever may be outside. The players seemed excited about it but it was no fun for us. Ite a lousy atmosphere as far as I am concerned but the marketing people think it is heaven on earth. The NHL loves them so you know its a money maker. I'm waiting for word.

Count me out too. I went to the women's & men's doubleheader at The Bank, and that was enough for me.

Count me out too, hated it. I'm glad the team enjoyed it (at least they said they did) but the view from football stands is poor and being bundled up like an eskimo is hardly my idea of a good time.

My guess is that after then narrow Mariucci there will be the sort of "fill the bowl" games like UW and UND have for the Gophers. I won't mind that as much because that place is very good for hockey.

If they ever were to use Mariucci and promote it as a "Fill the Bowl" event it would have to be a sellout - no separate lower and upper seating areas!

They had a tentative plan to do it (game @ Mariucci) this coming season, but they couldn't make the schedule work.

There is only one level at Mariucci but I believe a sellout would be possible if we can get some PR. I had hoped the gawdawful "Pronger with a ponytail" schtick would have intruqued more folks since she was interviewed regularly on the local sports radio. We need a wide net, to local news-blabber shows, radio, TV and word of mouth. But it is very doable.

One idea might be to have a doubleheader where both the women and the men would host Wisconsin, back-to-back at Mariucci with 5PM and 8PM starts. The Epic Border Battle!

I have suggested that but they would need to get the BI6 and WCHA to cooperate on scheduling. I wonder how hard that would be? Back when they were all WCHA it would have been easy I think to build M/F weekends at all the MN schools, Wisc and UND. It would have been good for the womens programs I think.

Initial word is that Coach Frost and several team members will be at the MN State Fair -- on the stage outside the U. of M. Building -- on Monday, August 31 at 12:30 p.m.
