Wisconsin has a lead here, 2>1. You're right, Brent. ;)

Bringing up NFL football? You lose.

Slap Shot...no giving out halos to Bucky. We don't want to be associated with them in any way...:D

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin.. the greatest rivalry in college hockey.

Football? Yeah you lose. And to think that of all people, MNS (a SIOUX fan) had to point that out. That's a double whammy. :D

And despite those who say otherwise, many of us watched that WI/CC game, and you guys didn't play that good. Oh, you were missing some players? Well great goalies should overcome that. And if it's the Defense for the Ages, missing one little piece or two, if that was the case, shouldn't matter, because a DftA should also have depth.

MN Gophers take a page from the Vikings, and tease the BADgers a little, then end up crushing.

Sweep. Capital S. Hell, tDon might even let Hill coach on Saturday, just to make it interesting.

If tDon lets Hill coach...WI will destroy the Gophers. If he lets Potulny coach...it will be a closer game...:p

Oh, btw.....con1977? You out there?

I'll bet 1 lb of deli bacon (read: not that grocery store crap) vs a sixer of Spotted Cow on most points in this weekend's series. Payable whenever we see each other again.

Sound fair? :)

Many of us watched the DU/MN games, and you guys didn't play that good[sic]. Oh, you were playing one of the better teams in the league ? Oh, well good teams should overcome that.

To be fair...none of them thought they were a good team...

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin.. the greatest rivalry in college hockey.

Apparently Hill's coaching performance in Grand Forks last year has taught you nothing...and the Sioux didn't have a "Defense for the Ages" :D

He taught me a lot. Like how he should never coach another game again. Yet here I stand saying that MN is that much more awesome than WI. As I said, you have much to learn about tArrogance. :p

They played decent. Cheverie was friggin' channeling Hasek, Roy, Brodeur, and Sawchuk all in the same weekend. I have to give him credit, he was outstanding.

And we were slumping. Just kind of giving the other teams hope at a title. Now, if you excuse me, I have to back into the smoky room to see what tConspiracy holds for this weekend. :D

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin.. the greatest rivalry in college hockey.

Fine, fine. Let me rephrase:

Even a respectable team should score a goal on the weekend.

What MNS said, but since this IS MN, you are correct. We should have probably scored 2 or 3 that weekend. There was no, how should I phrase the cliche......puck luck?

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin.. the greatest rivalry in college hockey.

Oh, how the mighty and arrogant have fallen. The poor play of their dishonored team has lead them to site "puck luck" as an excuse. What are you, Saint Cloud fans ? For shame.

Where is "The Almighty Schroeder" ? Surely he could have scored at least one !

I am Arrogant, don't get me wrong. But in hindsight, given Cheverie's play.......I will man up and admit that Denver owned us that weekend. It's just a matter if we LET them own us......;)

Even if we scored two goals a night, that wouldn't have changed the outcome as far as points......I'm not sayin' I'm just sayin'......:p

Fair enough, but by that same token, Wisconsin has also shot themselves in the foot, allowing one or two completely broken plays that CC was able to capitalize on, or taking two 5-minute majors in the third against MSUM, to lose their games. The only difference is that we were still actually IN those games until the final buzzer. ;) :D

If the Badgers can put together solid periods of play without any major mistakes, as was the case last weekend, does that mean the Gophers are just going to quit like they did against UND (Friday) and DU, and let us walk away with 4 points ? .. Because that would be alright with me.

If you know anything about the Gophers, once one goal goes in, here comes the flood.

And for broken plays, the DftA and OMGBBQFTW Goaltending should not allow that to happen. ;)

Finally, against UND, I'm ready to toss that weekend out the window, because

A) It was the first real series for MN, while UND faced (an albiet weak opponent) a "real" team the weekend before

B) There was still the memory of last year's series where the losing mentality was still there

C) We'll let them win the Virg Foss Trophy For Mid-Season Excellence every time. We have higher goals.

:D

The Gophers didn't quit any of those games, especially the UND game. They never showed up for that one. :o But Denver showed it was clearly the better team at this point in the season against the Gophs. The Gophs didn't quit, Denver was just better.
