Minnesota @ Wisconsin.. the greatest rivalry in college hockey.

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin.. the greatest rivalry in college hockey.

I had forgotten about the "Defense of the Ages". How did that defense end up losing to Mansucko?

Well if you want an explanation the Stat sheet should tell you the story,2 dumb checking from behind penalty's in the 3rd and the chance at 3 or 4 points went down the drain even against Mankato.... when you play half or more of the 3rd period 1 man down!!! It was really impressive Defense that we only gave up 1 goal in the 3rd...

As far as the tie against CC opening weekend, I was happy with a tie that game, playing without Geoffrion, B. Smith and Davies so to sum it up, even though this teams record is just average so far, i don't think the play has been average at all.

Wow. Not only are your goalies epic but they have mad Alex Stalock offensive skills too? Awesome.

This team is so exciting that there, I mean, their fans have trouble writing good sentences because they are so exciting that they don't even have run-on sentences, or I mean if they do have run-on sentences it's because the Defense, goaltending and offense is so awesome, specially the goalies, that the fans lose their language capabilities. Either that or numbers in their handles refer to age. Then again, my 14 year old doesn't write anywhere near that poorly.

(I don't know why I bothered.)

UW has been dominant in all 3 of their wins. Unfortunately they are 0-2-1 in close games. I'm looking forward to seeing if they can respond better in what I expect to be 2 close games.

I don't know either. I'm a stickler as well, but I've largely given up. As long as I can make out of most of something I don't bother.

Why are you guys talking about goaltending anyway? I thought you were the fans base who wrote off UW's last National Championship saying you'd rather see your team lose 7-6 than play UW's style and win 2-1.

:( You're no fun.

Just trying to get our goaltenders their due. We finally have a couple of good ones. It's rare. :)

But they are just a bi-product of a great D-Core :P But yet Uw's D is too offensive minded and gives up too many odd man rushes also.... I'm confused, which one is it again :P.. UW haters can be confusing

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin.. the greatest rivalry in college hockey.

I haven't laughed so hard in years. Maybe you forgot the ;) at the end of your post.

Yeah that cracked me up as well. They just played the most offesively challenged team in the league and all of a sudden their goalies go by the name of Hasek and Brodeur.

Yeah, and you guys have Bobby Orr, Nicklas Lidstrom, Ray Bourque, Paul Coffey, and Scott Niedermayer on your D-line. Looks like we're about even. ;)

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin.. the greatest rivalry in college hockey.

But, I thought the Gophers were the most offensively challenged?

Since I first saw him, I've liked "Kangas Khan" (MY trademark btw), at least for a Gopher 'tender. Kinda goofy, kinda goofy lookin', kinda unorthodox.

Refresh my memory, whatever happened to Frazee after his junior year?

**I'm not ready to talk smack yet; I'm gripping from a HUGE Outback Steakhouse gift card bet to my bro-in-law from Robbinsdale now in Florida. Thanks a lot, Packers :o **

And if you look back at the original quote, you will see it is a Sue fan who made the statement. Gopher fans were just refuting the arguments that followed that seemed to be saying that the WI goalies (which WI fans in the offseason admitted were a question mark) are better than the MN goalies (one of which was touted as a freshman Phenom in the conference, who, granted, did have a bad stretch last year) despite the fact that WI fans tend to say MN defense is poor and WI is one of the best ever. (To make it clearer, if goaltending stats are similar for two goalies, the goalie who has the poorer defense is probably a better individual player than the goalie who hardly ever faces a good shot.) So laugh away if you want. All the really matters is what is in the win-loss column at the end of the weekend.

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin.. the greatest rivalry in college hockey.

Personally, I'm nervous.

But that's not unusual.

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin.. the greatest rivalry in college hockey.

You mean the guy so prone to the wraparound it was scored on a 75% clip?
Yes him ;) . Just wondering if he wasn't asked back or if he quit.

On an unrelated note Mr. Kessel is expected to make his debut with Toronto on Tuesday. I feel sorry for the kid; horrible team.
